Hotel Del Clos

“ Hotel location was ideal for the El Tarter ski lifts. Although it’s a short walk, it is down a steep incline, which was not so easy in ski boots. On an icy day it would not be an easy journey. But help was at hand with a minibus organised by the hotel that takes you to the ski lift in the early morning and returns you late afternoon. Lockers were provided in the garage for a returnable deposit of 10 euro so no need to take skis to your room. 15% discount card was given to us by the receptionist for ski hire at the local store. Room was clean, bathroom modern and bed reasonably comfortable. The restaurant seemed to cater for the European taste rather than the British. As long as you are flexible and you don’t mind trying some strange combinations then you will be fine. Nice bar area and friendly staff. As a base for skiing you wouldn’t want much more. The ski area is excellent and there is plenty for the more advanced skier or boarder to enjoy.

“ Top Tip: If driving from Barcelona or Toulouse you will need snow chains. It normally snows the morning when you need to get up early for the airport so practice fitting the chains even if you don’t need them. Best advice, fit them the night before you drive home – it only takes a moment to remove them if you don’t need them. The hire charge is 40-45 euro or pick them up from a petrol station on the way to Andorra for 30-35 euro. Take them home or leave them in the hire car at that price. Enjoy your stay.

“ We arrived late (after the restaurant had closed), but were very surprised to find that the hotel had arranged for a 3-course meal to be left in our room!! Check-in was simple, and the reception staff were pleasant and welcoming. The food in the hotel (we were there on a half-board basis) was plentiful and of good standard. The Bar was well stocked, and had a happy hour every day, where drinks were on a 2-for-1 basis. There was plenty of information in reception about local activities/attractions. The rooms were comfortable and perfectly suited, with en-suite facilities.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone holidaying in Andorra, but who didnt want to pay the 5 star prices!

“ Top Tip: We had gone there for the skiing, and the slopes of El-Tarter are just yards away. There is also a ski hire shop again within yards. If you drive, then there is plentiful parking. They also have free ski lockers in the hotel if required.

“ This was our first visit to the Hotel Del Clos, but not our first visit to Andorra. We were very impressed with the Hotel, its staff, and facilities - it is certainly on a par with hotels such as the Sporthotel in Soldeu, but at a fraction of the cost.
We went for a quick ski break before the main rush, and the snow was excellent, with all facilities on the slopes open. The hotel itself is situated on the other side of the road to the slopes of El Tarter, very close to the chair lift and telecabin.
We would definately recommend the Hotel Del Clos to anyone, with or without children.

“ Top Tip: The Sports Calbo ski hire shop is 50 yards from the hotel, and the ski lift is 150 yards further on - we would recommend hiring a ski locker by the ski lift, so that you dont have to carry your gear back to the hotel (walking up the steps to the hotel in ski boots is not my idea of fun!!)
