I do like the hotel and management, very switched on.

Top Tip: Around one corner a gret simple place for breakfast that beats the 40$ a head hotel buffet! ( nice to have alternatives ) & good for wonderfully fresh sandwiches , on Gloucster st & also a simple Italian a another angle &blocks 'Machiaveli' on 133 Clarence st -( behind wnyard st ) whilst again around the other corner on Pitt St is the recently opened & infmous 'Jamies'
( Oliver's new place) wonderful GINGER mojitos, to fresh up on! great location! close access to buses trains etc & ferries re this great branded hotel!

The hotel facilities were excellent, & the room was of a high standard, but this is what I would expect for the price paid.
I do have one issue. The earliest checkin time was noon, but I arrived in the morning from a long trip from the UK, & was in serious need for a shower & a nap. I was told that the room I had booked was unavailable, but the receptionist offered to search for an available room. There were some available, but at a higher price (extra $40 per night). When I asked why the increase in price, I was told it had a "better view". I would be interested to know from others travellers that have had this experiance. If this is standard practice at the hotel to use "your room is unavailable" to promote a higher priced room, then I consider it a rather underhand method to extract a higher price from tired customers on arrival.

Top Tip: If you get the train into sydney, & stay at the Shangri La, be aware that this hotel is up a rather steep hill. The Four Seasons is located closer to the train station, harbour area & for access to the city.
The train from Sydney Airport is very clean, easy to access from the airport, takes 20-25 mins to the centre of Sydney & runs frequently. Costs about $15 Aus.
