“ Great stay - we were upgraded too which helped! Staff were really friendly and courteous although the whole Happy Hour was somewhat chaotic between 3.30-4.30! Food was above average I'd say and the hospitality suite on the day of departure was fabulous and much appreciated - it meant that we could stay as long as possible on the beach and shower afterwards (check-out is 11.00am and UK flights are usually 3.00pm onwards). Nice safe in room (fits a laptop) and there is free wi-fi everywhere which was fast and reliable. Decent gym, plenty of sun loungers and only a short taxi ride to the Gap where much of the nightlife was.

Top Tip:
Pablo's is a great local bar a short, five minute walk from the hotel. Great sports coverage on three big flat screen TVs. Happy hour is 5-7pm except Saturday when it is half price from 1-7! Food is very good there too - great value for money.
Take advantage of the local buses where possible - 2 Barbados Dollars to anywhere on the island. There's also a free transfer to Bridgetown to go to Cave Sheperd department store (by prior arrangement with Reception).
Great bar called 'The Watering Hole' on the main road to Bridgetown at the turn off to St Lawrence Gap. Same lady who runs it has been there for years! A real character - the Mount Gay rum is very reasonable (as you'd expect!)
Also at the Gap is a brilliant Brazilian Restaurant - based on the Brazilian BBQ concept - 99 Barbados Dollars for all you can eat - we got stuffed!

The menu in the hotel restaurants is rather restricted
It should be pointed out to prospective clients that the sea can get quite rough at this location and a red flag (meaning no swimming) may be put up - hence not suitable to young families
Some of the rooms/furnishings are looking a little tired
Staff are extremely friendly and helpful all around the hotel

Hire a car!
There is a very good supermarket en route to the Garrison area south of Bridgetown - ask reception for directions
Good restaurants at St Lawrence Gap - recommend Harlequin for an average price good meal with good service

“ Our recent stay at Bougainvillea was fantastic. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The grounds are spotless and covered in colourful flowers and trees. The staff are brillant and are always happy to help with any problems or queries. As for the beach - words can not describe how beautiful it is!! only fault is entertainment in the evenings is slighlty lacking back the St Laurence Gap is not far away from the hotel which has plenty of nightlife. Can't wait to go back!!
“ Top Tip: Best activities to do - island safari, swimming with the turtles and shipwrecks but go on one of the smaller boats so you see the turtles better, bajan roots and rhythms and harrisons caves

“ I really enjoyed the stay and thought the breakfast was the best meal of the day. The room I had overlooked the gardens and pool and had a really relaxed atmosphere. The beach is really excellent with plenty of sun loungers and clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

“ Great Location... central to the three main beaches: Accra, Miami and Browns beach. 2min bus ride or a 10min walk from Oistins which is a brilliant place to eat. FISH IS AMAZING. A quick taxi ride from the hotel to the club strip.

Pirate's Inn is an intimate, apartment-hotel on the South Coast of Barbados. Just a few steps from the Boardwalk, and a five minute walk from the popular Rockley Beach. It is within easy walking distance of restaurants, entertainment, banks, supermarkets, and three miles outside the capital Bridgetown. There are twenty-one studio apartments built around a central pool. All rooms are fully furnished, with en suite bathrooms and kitchenettes.
