Van Belle Hotel

“ Stayed 2 nights and booked a double room.When we arrived they had no room and only offered us 2 singles and then had to move for th esecond night. Also i think i got bitten in my single bed the first night. hotel rather tired in decoration.

“ It was a nightmare. The first night we were ready to go to bed when we noticed that the bed sheet was very wet and there was also a big yellow stain on it. We contacted the reception. We were told by the receptionist that he was alone and he just provided as a single duvet. We therefore had to sleep in a wet and dirty sheet. The next day we complained in the reception and a male receptionist was very rude, he shouted and lost his temper when he requested to talk with the Manager Finally I spoke with a Manger who allowed as changing the room. It was a very Bad and sad experience.


The breakfast was a good value for money

“ Brilliant place, 15 minutes (slow) walk from Gare du Midi.
10 minutes (slow) walk to Grand Place,
The area's not fantastic but certainly nothing like as threatening as some reviewers will have you think!!
Never used the shuttle (timing's weren't suited to our movements) but it was regularly used by other guests.
Fantastic choice at breakfast, which kept us filled up right the way through to the evening.
For the price, you really can't get better!!

“ Top Tip: Take a map with the exact address if you intend to visit the Cantillon Brewery, it's only a street away from the hotel but we couldn't find it. And the local shops surrounding didn't know where it was.
Also try the Vietnamese restaurant Da Kao II on Rue D'Anderlecht/Rue Van Artevelde, the plat du jour consists of 3 courses for only 7 Euros, very busy when we visited so must be well know locally.
