“ THE HOTEL WAS AS ELEGANT AS EXPECTED. THE STAFF WERE BOTH FRIENDLY AND COURTEOUS AND ALWAYS OF SERVICE. (IF BREAKFAST IS NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR ROOM RATE BE AWARE THAT THE BREAKFAST BUFFET COST US 75 REAIS EACH PLUS A SERVICE CHARGE. I FORTUNATELY WAS HUNGRY BUT MY PARTHER HAD A BOWL OF FRUIT AND A COFFEE!) OVERALL THOUGH A BEAUTIFUL HOTEL IN A FABULOUS LOCATION. A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.

I have visited this hotel about 5 times over the last fifty years. It is as good as ever but expensive, now owned by Orient Express. The rooms facing the beach are large and have everything one could want.
Some rooms are adjoining and the connecting doors are not soundproof, so other guests shouting on the phone can be a problem.
The Spa and gym are excellent and the half size Olympic pool is spectacular.
“ Top Tip: There is an Italian restaurant full of locals in the next block with great food and a fish restaurant called " Shirley's" about three blocks the other way also frequented by locals. The concierge desk was very helpful.
