Th hotel had th most amazing views of dubrovnik an was within easy reach o the old town. the only slight drawback to reaching the facilities others town was that the walk was hilly and riddled with steep steps.
Within the hotel communal areas were clean and modern. Some of the roots, including the superior room we stayed in, were in need of a refresh.
The outdoor pool is a fresh sea water pool so cold earlier in the season, however the indoor pool was beautiful an made up this.
“ Top Tip: The 3 island tour and a meal at poklisar are musts!

We chose Excelsior for the spa facilities and location, as we wanted to relax and pamper during our long weekend away. The hotel service was amazing from the moment we arrived, they are very professional and try to accomodate all requests. The concierge was very helpful - as we were in low season many places we had on our list for the evenings were closed, and having him tell us that and think of suitable substitutes was useful.
The rooms were a decent size and the bathroom was really nice with a good powerful shower. We got a standard seaview which was ok, as we got the good views from the Piano Bar and at breakfast. Breakfast was a little disappointing but passable - had I known they would make certain hot breakfasts on request I may have been a little happier.
The spa was lovely, one of the benefits of going during low season is you get to enjoy it more as its less crowded and more peaceful. My only gripe is that the steam room was out of order the whole time we were there, and when we asked they said ti would be fixed but it wasn't.
The old town was only a short walk away and nice for a stroll. Cable car was good for the views it gave. If you want more of a nightlife go after May, as March is a bit dead.

Top Tip:
All of the restaurants we ate at in the Old Town were excellent- if you want something more casual, we'd recommend Spaghetteria Toni and Olivia Pizzeria- great pastas and pizzas. Taj Mahal is a great Bosnian restaurant offering something a bit different- food and service was excellent. Lady Pi Pi is also a nice restaaurant tucked away against the edge of the wall (more or less)- nice outdoor terrace, little cheaper than central locations and good service. Note that for most restaurants in the Old Town you should book a table (whenever possible) otherwise be prepared to wait 10-30 minutes for a table esp during peak times 7:45-9:30.
We would also recommend going for the smaller excursion groups which essentially offer the same trips but at a lower cost and often with fewer numbers giving you more of a personal experience. We went on a biking tour (with the Kayaking and Biking group) and also went on a trip to Ston and Korcula with LEA Travel- both trips were great!
