Lero Hotel

“ We have just returned from a week staying at the Hotel Lero. The hotel is modern and well run. The staff are well focussed on providing good customer service. Hotel Lero is more suitable for older people and focusses their market as such with catering mostly for groups. Its position tends to make the rooms at the front of the hotel which overlook the road quite noisy. There is a pool but there are no facilities for children and the nearest beach (pebble) is a 10 minute walk using a steep incline and steps. A very good bus service (no 4) to the Old City stops outside the hotel and runs approx. at 15 minute intervals until past midnight. There is a member of staff who looks after tourist information and will make bookings for hotel residents and sells tickets for the bus too. Altogether a good visit to Dubrovnik.

“ Top Tip: Yes, a restaurant/cafe called the Komarda outside the Ploce Gate. Its position makes an excellent location for lunch or dinner close to the harbour. The food is tasty and reasonably priced compared with those restaurants within the city walls with friendly service. Have lunch there before going for a swim on Banje beach.

“ Loved the Hotel Lero. Rooms (we had a standard double) were not large but functional and very clean, beds were comfy and the air con was very effective. Couldn't hear the traffic even though we were at the front of the hotel. Safe is free, no fridge although there was a mini bar. Free wi-fi was great. Very easy walk into Dubrovnik which took no longer than 20 mins. Uphill on the walk back, so not so great in the heat of the day! Towels were provided by the pool. Food at breakfast was fine but dinners were good value and plenty of choice. Hotel staff were charming. Only negative is that without a balcony its difficult to dry wet swimming things and towels.

“ Top Tip: If you're looking for a quick lunch, there are two restaurants just down the hill towards Dubrovnik - Magellan and a pizza place which did great salads. There is a kiosk almost opp the hotel selling cold drinks. Excellent bakery down the hill towards Dubrovnik. Supermarket at the bottom of the hill which sold most things. Lapad was a 20 minute walk - turn right out of hotel and keep going until you reach first set of traffic lights, turn left down hill and the beach is at the bottom.

“ Top Tip: Reasonable close to the old town of Dubrovnik (1.5 miles) which was excellent.
