“ While the hotel was lovely, especially the pool area with swim-up bar, stunning sea views and and great food, the room was unfortunately a case of style over substance. It looked good but the leaky shower door, poorly designed sink, broken blinds, and lack of storage space did let the hotel down.

Built in 1898, this is the oldest hotel in Hvar, a grand dame framed by Gothic and Renaissance architecture. History lovers will particularly enjoy its central location, which provides romantic views of the ancient piazza and neighbouring buildings such as St. Stephen's Cathedral, as well as glorious sunsets over the bay. The hotel itself has a graciously-aged charm and character that mirrors that of the island itself. Guests can dine accompanied by live ensemble music on the Palm Restaurant's terrace overlooking the yacht harbour. From the Adriatic ambiance to the ancient architecture and the live bands, everything at the hotel offers guests a classic experience. The air-conditioned hotel, which was renovated in 2008, offers guests 73 rooms in total and further facilities include a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, and WLAN Internet access.

This apartment complex offers 6 studio apartments on two floors. The apartments are simply furnished but well equipped. The house is very well maintained and guests will certainly enjoy the family atmosphere and the Dalmatian hospitality. Free parking spaces are available.

“ To clarify, we were in the main hotel and not in the annex further along the harbour (we think that this is the part of the hotel that's getting the really bad reviews). In general: hotel was pleasant and clean, staff were friendly and helpful, good variety for breakfast and we had a great view from our top floor balcony.
