The hotel was lovely as were the staff. We had a room overlooking the market square which gave us a great view of the locals buying produce early Saturday morning !.
The only drawback was the smell , especially in the bathroom. The staff were extremely helpful when we mentioned it and offered a change of room which we didn't take advantage of as we had such a nice room. We were given an air freshener in the bathroom which did help, we could put up with it as we were out all day.

“ This was our first visit, and we found the hotel just right for our purposes as two active pensioners. The room, food and personnel were first rate, while we enjoyed being within the city walls. Nonetheless, it is simple to get to public transport and taxis, and the cable car to the mountain top is close by. Our transfer taxi called the hotel from the airport, and we were met outside the walls by a porter who took our luggage for us. The same happened on our departure, yet the porter and taxi driver seemed reluctant to accept a tip as a thank you. How refreshing. We spent Christmas week at the Pucic Palace, when many establishments are closed for the winter, but there was still quite enough to see and do, while the hotel breakfast certainly carried us through the day. We would happily recommend the hotel to friends - something we do not usually do !
“ Top Tip: The Oliva restaurant and their searate pizzeria were very good, and good value. The Proto restaurant - much vaunted - was rather a let-down for us. The Festival cafe on the Stradun was good for afternoon relaxation. The cable car to the top of the mountain and Cavtat village ( no. 10 bus ) were excellent.
