“ Very nice hotel and excellent staff. Not all rooms have balcony big enough to sit out on - ours wasn't - but the view was super and the room was large, light, airy and very comfortable.

Food and drinks all very good and buffet style not as stressful as some other hotels. In addition to main buffet restaurant there are two 'a la carte' restaurants - one Cuban and one 'Japanese' (Asian would be better description) - and you can book into these at no extra cost but you need to book several days in advance.

Lifts must be motored by elastic bands as they are incredibly slow but it's an amusing talking point with fellow guests - and you're on holiday so relax :-)

“ Top Tip: We arranged our own travel to Varadero from Havana. Were going to use Viazul bus (10 pesos pp) but opted for Havanatur bus which picked up from Hotel in Havana and delivered to hotel in Varadero. Cost 25 pesos pp but didn't have to organise taxis each end. However, used Viazul bus for return to Havana. Super vintage taxi from hotel to bus station for 15 pesos and then another 10 pesos for taxi the other end - so overall about same total cost. BEWARE if you buy Viazul tickets in hotel. When we exchanged perfectly valid voucher for 2 tickets at bus station, we were only given ticket for 1 person which we didn't realise (because 1 ticket has 2 parts) until collector came on bus - and demanded another 10 pesos. Bit of a bummer but that's life!
