“ We have stayed at three different occasions in three different rooms at the Ambos Mundos. Whilst the lobby and public areas are maintained very well, the rooms, especially the bathrooms are not. The toilet flush wasn't working in two rooms, the bathtubs were leaking and basically flooding the entire bathroom. Instead of air - water came out of the aircondition in the bathroom and continued dripping all night long so that the bathroom had a wet floor in the morning. The breakfast is below average. From 09.30am there was just very little or no supply to stock up the buffet. Ham and cheese were out and the eggs were a poor quality. Service was lacking and very slow and only worked with tip. I stayed in other hotels in Havana in the old town, for less money and had a more satisfying experience. I would not return or recommend this hotel.

“ A welcoming and friendly hotel, room and communal areas were clean and comfortable with a real authentic cuban feel to the decor. There is daily perfromances by local dancers and musicians at lunch and evening meal times in the courtyard restaurant which further adds to the ambience of the hotel.

This elegant, leading hotel is known for its harmonic Art Nouveau style. The beauty and sensuality go hand in hand with the romantic atmosphere, which combines impressively with eclectic elements of the architecture. The biblical name and some of the spaces allegorically reflect Hebrew culture. The building was constructed in 1905 for use as offices, shops and a textile warehouse. It was extended in 1908 to its current size. In later years the building housed the Cuban Chamber of Commerce as well as the headquarters of Industries and Navigation. Renovated in 2001, this 3-storey hotel features a terrace as well as a total of 25 rooms, including 4 junior suites. Guests are offered a lobby with lift, a safe, a cloakroom, currency exchange counter and a reception which is open 24 hours. Furthermore, the historic air-conditioned hotel includes a restaurant with highchairs and Internet connection (for an additional fee). “ Whilst this hotel has everything going for it in looks wise, that it is! On first arrival to Hotel Raquel it looked lovely with its tall ceilings, furniture and amazing old style lift, the initial contact with reception was shocking.
