Park View Boutique Hotel

“ The hotel was really well placed to visit the sights of 'old Havana.' There was a small but attractive bar area and the staff were helpful and pleasant. The rooms were small and basic but we found our room adequate for a four night stay as we were out sight seeing all the while. On the downside the shower was not good - the water was hot but produced only a dribble of water. The breakfast was horrendous. This is not common place as the first night we arrived at the hotel we were told that there was a problem with electricity on some floors so we were allocated another hotel nearby of a similar standard for the first night. We had a very good breakfast at this hotel !

“ Top Tip: All museums and art galleries of old Havana were within a 15 minute walk from the hotel.

“ When we arrived at the Park View they did not have our reservation and were full. They eventually found our reservation and then contacted a local rep called Marlene who arranged for us to go to the Hotel Sevilla. The Sevilla is a Mercure and having stayed in Mercures before we can definitely say its below the normal standard, for example, A/C that barely works, cold water taps not connected and complete chaos in the Breakfast room. The staff on the whole were excellent except for an extremely rude male Maitre'D at breakfast. We ate in the restaurant on the Friday night and the portions were so miserly that I went to the Terrace bar and ordered a Pizza afterwards. Despite these travails we enjoyed ourselves but we could not recommend this Hotel to anybody

“ Top Tip: Excellent restaurant in the Plaza Catedral called El Patio. Great service, good food, especially the meat and a good selection of wines. The entertainment on a Saturday night was gereat and included a very accomplished band and a Fashion show.
The Art Gallery opposite, next to the Museum of the Revolution, was also very impressive

“ This hotel provided a very pleasant place to stay in the center of Havanna. The hotel lobby, rooms and restaurant were clean and the staff welcoming; the restaurant provides good views over the city. I would recommend this hotel to others.

“ Top Tip: If you need a taxi then select an old car from the long line located to the left hand rear side of the City Museum. I bit of haggling and we got a 1962 Plymouth to take us to the airport for 25 CUC.
