* Location was just perfect ! hotel is located near main museums, near old town. There are many of good restaurant near by. we didnt even need taxi wherever we went as everything was so close by ( but not new Havana -its a bit further down -anyways old havana is much more fun and much more unique !!!! )
* this hotel is really old and has nice historical atmosphere. It used to be one of the most luxurious hotels in Havana , so there are pictures of few well known gangsters (like Al Capone )and other famous people (like Fidel Castro ) who have visited or stayed in this hotel
* good food and drinks in patio bar but a bit more expensive then restaurants around
* very nice and helpful staff , lovely cleaners
* Wifi internet in reception ( you need to purchase a card , I hour 8 pesos )
*good breakfast, not a big choice but you have all important stuff so you will not leave buffet hungry.... amazing fresh bread !!
* rooms small but cute and old style , nice bathroom, a lot of mirrows (which is important for girls ! )
* nice pool area , clean and always enough space -I am very HAPPY with my choice of this hotel !!!!

Lobby is lovely, rooms a little less so, but still OK. Beds comfortable, and rooms clean. Air Con. Pool area great - esp as hotel is in City Centre.
Hot breakfast not great - Go to the omlette station, that is nice. Recommend you avoid the "sausage" substances. Food in Cuba pretty vile - so this is not necessarily a citicism of hotel. Cold breakfats fine. Take own tea bags to breakfast.
Hotel location great, as its in between "Old" Havana, and Havana "Centro" - so well located to explore both areas. Also close to the Malecon.
Lifts are fine - no queues at all now, so prob mentioned by other reveiwers must have been resolved.
Safes in rooms - so reassuring place to leave valuables/cash etc.

Top Tip:
1O Cuban Pesos (as opposed to CUCs) - so eqiv 40p (UK) will get you a Pizza. These are great, best food we had in Cuba. Often just a window, or really small shop you pass, so keep your eyes open - 3 of them within 2mins of hotel. They look quite unhygenic to western eyes, but because so fresh and hot, no probs "digestively".
Fresh, and really hot - cheap, cheap lunch, had one everyday.
Go to Teatro America (Galliano - Ave Italiano) for Salsa lessons - really great 1-2-1 tuitions by professional dancers 10CUC/hour plus tip - bargain.
Cubans freindly, but every interaction ended ultimately with a request for money, so be aware of this. Very few beggars, but loads of chancers around tourist areas.
Its 25CUC from the airport to Havana. Change money at the airport, and after that the hotel. Ask them to give you some smaller notes, as you will need for tips.
If you need more money than you brought with you, will need to take card into a bank - so if only staying for week/10days better to arrive with what you need. Crime really low, never felt at all unsafe even going round poorly lit areas at night.

“ Breakfast choices was very limited. The satff was friendly. The location of the hotel was great. The room size was very good and the batroom could do with some modernisation.
“ Top Tip: Very close to everything. If you like to learn how to salsa the Cuban way, then checkout Theatre America.

“ Rooms allocated were quite small but ok for one night, the courtesy room used before we left was much bigger. Nice character to hotel, friendly staff and great musicians in the bar in the afternoon and evening. Good location for sightseeing in Havana.
“ Top Tip: Hired a pony and trap tour guide who did a great job showing us around Havana, taking us to all the tourist sights plus bars and a hidden cuban restaurant, well worth 10 pesos each. Tropicana was fantastic and well worth seeing. Mojitos as the Hotel Los Frailes were the best.
