Costasur Hotel

“ Great hotel right on a lovely beach. Rooms were large and clean with a balcony which overlooked the sea. Staff very friendly. Food OK but very repetitive. Not much else to do around the area unless you get a cab into town which cost about 10cuc each way.

“ This hotel was a little bit disappointing. The construction was a painted reinforced concrete block; everything about the place was run down and tired, although in fairness, clean. We were awoken every morning by the incessant shouting of the cleaning staff. The food was not good. What was worth eating was quickly snapped up by the families staying there, It was not just a little inconvenient, they regularly ran out of plates and cutlery, beer was served in a small wine glass in the food hall and elsewhere in a small plastic glass. There was little by way of beach equipment and what was there was in poor condition. The health spar and gym was never manned, although there were a few loose weights. The location was 8km's from Trinidad, which is a bit of a treck On the plus side, the beach is nice and the pool and show were very lively (we had a fire dancing act one night). The accommodation was not expensive and eating out in trinidad was also relatively cheap which should allow you to supplement your stay by eating some meals out.

“ Top Tip: Take your own (large) thermos cup if you want to drink beer; the Cannadians we met were obviously old hands at such things. The bar staff were also quite willing to fill plastic bottles for you if you wanted to avoid repeatedly having to go to the bar at busy times. Eat out. eating out in trinidad was also relatively cheap (10-15 CUC's for a decent 3 course meal with drinks)
