Flamingo Beach Hotel

“ This is definitely not a 3 star hotel. Amenities mentioned were not there i.e., satellite tv (only in lobby) rooms have antiquated old televisions showing one American channel - the rest Greek or Russian - definitely not watchable. Rooms on fourth floor in dire need of renovation. Carpets very old and dirty. Beds lumpy and uncomfortable. Cleaning consisted of changing towels, wiping out sink, rinsing bath and re-making bed. Never once was a vaccume cleaner used in two weeks of my stay and the balcony was only cleaned once in two weeks. Food - breakfast- tolerable. Evening meal consisted of the same rice, mixed vegetables, rock hard packet roast potatoes every single evening without exception and a different meat to go with it. In two weeks the only dessert consisted of fruit cut into huge chunks or whole. There must have been around 200 people in the hotel and one bowl of fruit came out which was instantly pounced upon and gone in seconds. I managed to get some fruit once during my stay because I gave up in the end. By moaning constantly at the waiters, I suggested that sometimes there should be a choice of more than one thing for dessert and a cake came out one evening. That too was enough for about 20 people and was gone instantly. One lift serving whole hotel. Never saw a cleaner in sight in communal areas and the lift floor was really quite disgusting. When lift broke down, it took 24 hours to mend and it was a nightmare trudging up to the fourth floor.

Breakfast staff, morose and unable to speak English, cleaning away your plates and the table before you had even left it making it quite uncomfortable. Evening staff in the main were much better and were very friendly and polite.

Reception staff quite unhelpful apart from the head receptionist who was very very nice indeed and would do anything to help.

Entertainment sporadic - piano player about four times, greek dancing one night which was very good but most evenings there was nothing at all.

No facilities in rooms for making a cup of tea. No iron as is suggested in the write up.

Room sparse - no chair to sit on - antiquated coverlets and curtains which would not close properly.

A good plus is that it is actually next to the beach which is wonderful.

Main area - small and no toilet facilities. You have to go up to the first floor to access these.

All in all, I would class this hotel as perhaps a 2 star at best. It has a long way to go to be a three star.
