Athena Beach Hotel

“ Our second stay at this hotel and as before really good stay, the hotel is always full which is a reflection of it's quality and excellent value for money.
Staff are very polite, smartly dressed and helpful.
Grounds, sun loungers, facillities, rooms etc are very well kept and always very clean, free entertainment every night, not to everyones taste but if you don't like it you don't have to take it as there are plenty of areas where you don't have to listen or watch it.
On your second stay they give you a 10% discount card for all items purchased in the hotel, except for happy hour(half price cocktails) 7 till 8 GREAT!!!

“ Top Tip: Close to the waterpark(but a bit expensive), nice walking distance to the Pafos harbour passing many entertainment spots on the way, well lit walkways and plenty of taxis if you dont fancy walking back, great place for young and old

“ Fantastic location right on the beach. Total relaxation. The entertainment of an evening was poor however they are closing the hotel in December 2011 and re-opening in January 2012 after a refurbishment which will include a disco.

“ Only went out for 5 days break whilst the bowling championships were on but really enjoyed it. Hotel was clean and in an ideal place next to the beach with palm trees and garden area and large swimming pools. Plenty of room to lie out and space to put loungers out. If you like watching or playing bowls its even better for you. 4 greens with about 16 rinks in all.
Food was good as there was alot of choice from the buffet. I suppose if you were there a fortnight it may get abit the same!
There are buses running regularly if you need to get to the harbour and shops or night life or it is a lovely 20 min walk down the coastal path.
I look forward to returning one day and would recommend this hotel to young/old or families.

“ Top Tip: Just across the road there are restaurants,pubs and a few shops which are handy if you fance a change and the food there is good and choice of steak house, fish bar or pub grub. The cost of eating out isnt cheap but then again there are deals available and the odd happy hour on.

“ The hotel has excellent pool and leisure facilities and the grounds and sunbeds are well maintained. The "beach" is actually sand dumped on top of a rocky seashore which is very pretty but not a kids sandy beach! However, there are sandy beaches 15mins walk along the shore line. The hotel has a pontoon out over the rocks which provides an excellent place to swim in the sea, which we did in preference to swimming in the pool!

The breakfast for non-superior rooms is a "free for all" buffet. The quantity was first class and finding a table was no problem, however it was a tad disappointing to find tinned peaches and pineapple in the "fresh" fruit section.

The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and courteous.

There is a shoreline path that passes through the hotel grounds and goes all the way in to Paphos. A gentle stroll along the path gets you in to the restaurants and bars in Paphos harbour in 30-40mins. If you are not up to the walk, on the road outside the hotel there is a frequent bus service which gets you right into Paphos for 1 Euro.

“ Top Tip: When you receive your voucher from Travel Republic, make sure that it states "EXACTLY" what you have booked. We paid the extra for a sea view room but the hotel declined to give it to us as the voucher only stated "Twin/Double Room, Breakfast (2 Adults)" so that's what they gave us - a room overlooking the road.

The buses around Paphos are "brilliant". But don't just buy a 1 Euro ticket for each journey, if you buy a 2 Euro ticket, it lasts all day for as many bus journeys as you like (inlcuding all the way up to Coral Bay - 30 mins out of Paphos).

Eating out recommendations are "Argo" in Paphos for some excellent traditional Cypriot cooking especially the Kleftiko (on special night) and Moussaka, and 7 St Georges Tavern in Geroskipou for a real meze dining experience - but go hungry to both!
