We stayed at the Avanti Village with our 2 children aged 7 and 4 from arrival 29 April for one week. We thought the pool area was lovely, the hotel staff were the friendliest we have ever met, especially George - he was absolutely brilliant! Entertainment was good, the kids loved the mini disco, the only disappointment to this was that it did not last long enough for the kids. The apartment was very spacious but a little bit basic but with a good size balcony. Our kids liked the kids club, Leanne who ran it was very nice. We would definitely recommend it and will hopefully visit again next year.

stayed in the Avanti Village 29/4/12 for 7 nights as a family of 5 (2a and 3 children 14,7,8). The holiday exceeded our expections in every way. The apartments were spacious and although the kitchen is basic, it was enough for our needs(oven , 1 ring hob, kettle, pots and pans.(I would say however that the main bed is extremely firm and the only thing that we would have changed if we could). Breakfast was eaten in the village and was self service with lots of choice including bacon and sausage daily. Evening meal was in the main hotel, a few minutes walk, and was based on a different theme night each day (Chinese, Italian,International,Cypriot etc) and had lots of variety. There was a separate childrens food area and a variety of puddings/cheese & biscuits/fruit. Personally we thought this was some of the best quality food we had eaten when on holiday.
For those on a self catering basis, there was an option to flexi dine for a very reasonable charge. We had lunch at the pool bar most days and found this very reasonable and good quality. We did think to buy food in the local shops and cook ourselves was very expensive.
The animation team (Trevor, Jess, Jac and Emile) were very good and provided a range of free of charge activities throughout the day and evening including aquagym, volleyball, waterpolo, quizes, pool and archery. It would have been nice to have had a few more activities where the under 12's could have joined in without it being too competitive and at times quite rough.
There was a kids club (up to age 12) in both the hotel and village and we found the staff here very accommodating and the rooms very spacious with a variety of toys, videos, games and books.
The staff, including the management team, were always around the complexes and always willing to chat to you. Everyone had a positive 'can do' attitude which we found very refreshing and nothing was too much trouble - from Leanne in reception to George and his waiting staff.
I would say the hotel is definately a better choice for the elderly and more mature age group, with families better suited to the village given the general, more formal atmosphere and the walk to and from the village.
Not one of us wanted to come home after this holiday and we would love to return again later in the year.We are well travelled and would rate this as one of the top places we have stayed in.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, plenty of food and variety. Dinner in the hotel is self service, again plenty of it but a different theme every night so may not meet all tastes. Bed made and towels changed every day but Apartment could have been cleaner. Cooking facilities were adequate but we didn't use them. Remember to take tea towels, dish cloth and washing up liquid. TV didn't have English channels as promised but I think this was not just a problem with the village. Season doesn't really start until May 1 so a lot of bars/ restaurants/ entertainments were closed.

Top Tip: The walk to Paphos harbour is about 30 minutes. The mosaics are worth a visit. You can get a bus to old Paphos town from the bus station. There are nice sandy beaches in small bays close by, some seaweed but clean otherwise. Good local Cypriot restaurants nearby, particularly Phivos and Viva Cyprus. Portions are generous and reasonably priced. There also other restaurants such as French, Italian and Chinese. Well worth a visit is the Ocean Basket which is very popular with tourists and locals alike but you will need to book if there are more than two of you.
