This was the fouth consequetive year that I have stayed at the Avlida. Twice with my wife, the other two occasions by myself (the wife being allergic to the sun) On this occasion I was by myself. On the previous three years, my biggest fault I could find with the Avlida was the lack of entertainment in the evenings. But this year there was a positive improvement eg singers, dancers, visual quizzes on a large screen, traditional Greek dancers, Fire eaters and bingo were on most nights. The reception staff were good and very professional. The food was excellent and varied but my biggest accolade must be reserved for the waiters and waitresses, they were excellent. Last but not least I must mention the owner of the Avlida Hotel. He was always available to be approched on any matter, whether he be in the restaurant, on the patio during the evening entertainment or even in his office.

Top Tip: I used the Sunset lounge/bar/restaurant an appx 200 metre walk on turning right from the Avlida Hotel. British owned with all the staff also British.
Good food with a pint of Keo only two euro. Plus for free you can enjoy the most wonderful sunsets

Externally smart and likewise the public rooms. Bedrooms were spacious, if a little short on storage, but admittedly we took a lot of clothes for the fortnight. The bath was a good size and non slip with the dual showers effective, if inclined to scauld occasionally. Both the beds and chairs were new and comfortable. However, the room was rather shabby, the advertised piped music system was broken and television was restricted to the BBC World Service and a pop music channel.Satellite television was very restricted also, one outlet catering for all nationalities
The swimming pool was cleaned every morning with provision for little ones. There was pleasant tree shading on one side, but many of the loungers needed replacing. I did not try the other sport facilities.
Entertainment at night was centered on a large stage, adjacent to the outside bar, generally music/quiz based and operated by the staff.
Breakfast was varied and very good. I had opted B&B and heard some concern about other meals.
The staff,in general, seemed very good in deed. They sorted out one or to initial problems quickly and efficiently. Helped plan some days out. I travel a lot and have rarely met such a positve attitude
I took the manager to task over the anomalies that were apparent. He said that the hotel was closing for five months for refurbishment from 31st October

Top Tip: If you choose not to hire a car the hotel is well placed to take advantage of the cheap tavel that is available. A bus stop outside the entrance gives access to numerous places. A 2 euro ticket lasts all day
There is excellent eating out nearby. Turn left out of the gate and you come to the Karlina Restaurant.Read reports on Trip Advisor
