The best accommodation we've had in Cyprus. We were the last guests before they shut down for the winter yet the owners and staff did everything we required of them. You couldn't find a better location - it's own car park and three minutes walk into the thriving little centre of Polis.
It's about a 10-12 minute walk to the beach but if you feel unable to do that the car can be driven right there - plenty of parking in the campsite which is adjacent.
“ Top Tip: All the restaurants are good but two we found exceptional - Moustakallis in Polis, and Petradaki in Kathikas, a 20 minute drive out of the village.

I was excellently looked after for the second year. My room was clean (and kept so),and spacious. Everything was provided to make for a self catering holiday. The pool was clean and never crowded.
I did not eat in as the village is so close, and I like to move around.
No disco - thank goodness, and minimum traffic noise.
Lovely friendly family hotel
“
Top Tip:
Transfer from Airport to and from hotel is exorbitant - it is cheaper to hire a car which also gives you flexibility to visit outside Polis/Latchi
More bars and restaurants in walking distance than can be exhausted in holiday.
Try driving into the mountains, find avillage with a taverna, and take pot luck on what is on the menu

“ Good hotel, would benefit from a lick of paint and a bar person around the pool, but no real complaints at all. Would stay there again.
“ Top Tip: Arsinoe restaurant serves some of the best fish I have ever tasted. The meze is great value.

We Stayed between the 6th and 12th of August 2010 for the second week of a two week stay.
We have stayed at The Stephanos Hotel about five times now, three times in the last three years, and twice previously many years ago, ( We have been going to Cyprus for 20 years, and even got married in Paphos back in 1998 )
This time we requested that we stayed in a specific room that we knew had been refurbished to a much higher degree than the other rooms. It has an oven, and a modern Kitchen and Bathroom. We were staying self catering and felt this room would be better for our requirements.
They did not meet our requirements or our request for this specific room.
When we arrived they said, " We can not give you the room you requested because it is booked,"
I was very disapointed but couldn't do much about it. They explained where our room was and we went to it.
For the course of the week we couldn't help but notice the room was not booked, ( We were right opposite it ) the curtains were never opened once. The room was eventually booked out to a couple and there two older children on the Thursday, ( we arrived on the Sunday )
The couple were given this room after they had turned down another room in our block opposite, obviously the other rooms ( that we had ) were not good enough for them so the hotel gave them the best room in the hotel, which we had requested when we booked back in July.
We were very dissapointed with the service this time, especially being lied to about the room, which obviously wasn't booked.
We have been very loyal to The Stephanos hotel over the years and last year we went half board with them. However the Self catering facilities where so inadequate and basic ( we had to ask for a kettle ) we resorted to eating out most evenings. Which is a pleasure to be fair.
We will seriously reconsider staying there again. Shame.

Top Tip:
The food in Polis is fantastic. If you want superb traditional Cypriot food, Polis ( and Latchi ) is the place. Its the main reason we come to the region, the food in Paphos can be good but it is more for the tourist taste, Polis' food is home cooked traditional food.
We highly recomend, FINIKAS, we had a superb three course set menue meal, for 15 Euros each. There were all the traditional meals on this menue, Kleft tiko, Dolmades, Stifado, King Prawn Saganaki, and lots lots more, infact it was hard to choose. When the food arrived ( very Quickly) it was fantastic, wonderfully fresh and deliciouse. The main course again was superb, and huge portions, we struggled to eat it all. Then desert, again a fantastic choice, and great.
Another great place to eat is, ARSINOE FISH TAVERN, in the square, Its always been great here, great fish every time, recomend the fish meze, and the Calimari.
Further out towards the Baths of Aphroditi, is TAKKAS BAY TAVERN, a beautiful beach with wonderfull shallow water not basshy, or rough, and then to top it all the Taverna is right above the beach and the fish is fantastic. On a Sunday they do Kleft Tiko by the Kilo, well worth it for sunday dinner, the potatoes are to die for. Again we recomend the fish meze plate and the Calimari, but dont skip the Greek salad here, its one of the best.
We've eaten here for 20 years now and dearly miss the old guy who used to own it, same family though. Though the foods still as good as ever, and the beach is beautifull. I shouldn't have told everyone really, it was our best kept secret, but if it helps the business im happy to share.

“ Great location , nice pool and grounds, good staff, nice accomodation. We had a fantastic sea view but I think we were extra lucky because we got one of the better located apartment blocks. If you are walking back from the road below it is uphill i've put that it's suitable for older people but do be aware you will have a hill or steps to climb unless your in the very first row of accomodation.
