  • The hotel was superb, and the staff really friendly. Iwas just disappointed the tea making facilities in the room had to be paid for.

We paid £880 for a room for two people all inclusive (not including flights). The room was very basic with a very small bathroom, and although I had requested a sea view we were facing out over other buildings and a main road, which was noisy. We upgraded to a sea view at a further cost of 120 euros for the remaining six nights. All-inclusive drinks were very limited with only local spirits and beer, and these finished at midnight and as we didnt arrive until 11pm local time we only managed one drink before a smirking waiter told us we would have to pay for the next ones. Very basic sandwiches were waiting for us on arrival. Very. We upgraded the next day and although the room was the same the view was wonderful over the beach - quite a lot of people seemed to be having to upgrade ....? We rang down for a kettle as although there were cups in our room not kettle, a further 7 euros for the kettle. A further 3 euros per day for the safe key (plus deposit) and 1 euro (plus deposit) for a beach towel. We could have breakfast outside on the terrace but lunch and dinner were served in a VERY regimented dining room, which did not encourage you to stay and linger over your meal, you ate and left, plates were moved as soon as you finished. There were some positives, the standard of cleanliness was impeccable, and the bar staff (bar the smirking one) were very nice. The location on the beach is fab, but the beach bar which was supposed to be included, was closed. The evening entertainment was very basic and as a result not very well attended and the evenings spent in the hotel lacked atmosphere. Oh and the final insult to injury, on the day you are checking out the all-inclusive finishes at 12 noon, we werent being picked up until 7.30pm, so we paid 40 euros for lunch ..... sorry, but we wont be returning.

Top Tip: We went on the BOBS - underwater observation pods, which are just outside Protaras. They were a great experience. Tavernas on the harbour at Ayia Napa served wonderful mezzos (dont forget we went in October so it wasnt franctic there).
