Polycarpia Hotel

“ Not a 4* rated hotel but a good 3*. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Hotel rooms need a revamp, the decor is from the 1980's. Food always satisfactory.

“ The food in the dining room was very bland, unimaginative and not hot with not much choice and the hotel does not merit 4 star status. The staff were very helpfull and the rooms in the hotel were clean. No fulltime management ,this hotel was run by young eastern bloc people who worked seven days from may to october.This was our third visit to this hotel and it has went downhill and we will not return.

“ The hotel is need of updating, the dinning room needs a new carpet, so do the ones in the rooms, the wallpaper in the hallways were hanging of the wall.

The air conditioning was very noise, our TV never worked but apparently the only English channel you could sometimes get was SKY news and you had to pay 5 euros for the remote control. You had to pay to use the fridge in the room which was 28 euros for the two weeks, the safe was 28 euros for the two weeks too. The fridge was old and wasn't very cold.

The shower was rubbish, it was not powerful at all. We have two lightbulbs not working as they were never fixed.

The food in the restuarant was awful, sometimes you couldn't make out what it was suppose to be, it also looked liked what food was leave the previous night was again in the next day in a different dish. We eat in the restuarant twice and that was bad enough.

The swimming pools areas were very nice and some of the staff were really nice even thought someone of them looked really miserable. The guy doing the entertainment was a pain in the neck and really loved himself and did not alot all day (sleeped in his little room for a few hours and entertained another hotel guest in his "special" room).

The hotel is in a nice local, plenty of shops in walking distance, hotel looked nice from the outside but just needed updating inside. Christine on Reception is the best, she is so helpful and very friend, any problems see her.

The Manager is a complete idiot, when people complained about the food he was not interested and fobbed them off. The Manager needs sacking!!!

“ Top Tip: If you are eating at the Polycrapia (the name everyone outside the hotel and guest at the hotel as calling it) you can change from eating an evening meal to a meal at lunchtime from the snack bar - at least that way you know its been freshly cooked, apart from the Chicken.
Great bar for food and good friendly entertainment The Western Star, all the staff are really lovely and look after you. Another good place to eat is the "Only Fools and Horses" bar - their breakfast and steaks are excellent. Try eating at the Station, really good food and really friendly staff. The Spectrum bar is great for watching football as they have 5 screens and have all the different games on at once.
