Art Nouveau is an international style of art, architecture and design, that peaked in popularity at the beginning of the 20th century(1880-1914) and is characterized by highly-stylized, flowing, curvilinear designs often incorporating floral motifs. Alfons Mucha gained recognition especially thanks to his posters for Sarah Bernhardt’s theatre in Paris. However, Mucha did not paint only posters. He is also the author of countless book illustrations, ornamental panels, advertisements, jewellery, decorative little statues and architectural designs. Reproductions of his designs are still used as a way to make manufactured goods more interesting and appear on biscuit boxes, postage stamps, and banknotes. He spent many years working on what he considered his masterpiece, The Slav Epic (Slovanská epopej), a series of huge paintings depicting the history of the Slavic peoples, bestowed to the city of Prague in 1928. He died in Prague on July 14 1939 of a lung infection. His grave is to be found in the Vyšehrad cemetery.

The rooms were big and nice. They were clean, interestingly decorated and the bathroom was really nice with a very hot and powerful shower. The room was really warm as well which was great considering we were in Prague when it was minus 16 degrees outside!
The receptionists were all very friendly and approachable. We had a problem with our safe and they helped us straight away.
The breakfast was adequate with a good selection.
The big downside to this hotel was it was so LOUD! The walls were really thin so you can hear everyones footsteps, talking etc. It was so loud we all woke up one night from noise in the hotel. Also the cleaners were hoovering the corridor at about 9am in the morning on a Sunday! We were not happy at all.
It is about a 10 minute walk to the main sites, Old town square Charles Bridge etc.

“ Well situated within walking distance or short metro/tram ride to the main tourist attractions also close to florenc metro station for access to airport. Clean rooms, good facilities, friendly and helpful staff. Minor gripes were the beds could have been longer for a tall person and the computer at reception didn't work. Other than that I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to others.

Hotel Mucha is in a central location to enjoy all that Prague has to offer. The hotel reception staff are helpful in giving you any information about visiting theatre, concerts, places of interest and can book some of these directly, alongside transport to the airport. The luggage holding facility is especially useful upon departure .
We were a little disappointed with the room allocated ,having stayed before in a much more spacious and comfortable room. It did not have a walk in shower facilty which was hazardous for my mother who has limited mobilty to lift herelf in and out. However we did mention this to hotel reception as she fell in the bath and they would have ben prepared to move us in a couple of days but had no immediate availabilty.
Also room sockets were inaccessible in the room which meant that you had to put the kettle on the floor as the lead wasnt long enough to reach the plug socket.
The rooms are kept clean with fresh towels every day and hot water.
However the temperature in the room varied from being extremely hot to being a little cold.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Prague for the first time.
“ Top Tip: Also there is a lovely cafe just under the rail bridge on the corner which serves a wide selection of good fresh food with friendly staff, well used by locals always a good recommendation.
