This exclusive resort was completely refurbished in 2006 providing facilities and rooms of the highest quality. The hotel, which is only for the over 18s, is an ideal place for couples to relax or enjoy their honeymoon or wedding. Its location - literally next to the 18-hole Playa Dorada golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones makes it a favourite among golfers. The hotel has also its own golf shop. Please note as this is an adults only hotel the hotel will only accept guests aged 18 years or over.
Accommodation
The hotel's rooms are equipped to the highest standard and they all include telephone, satellite TV, air conditioning, mini-bar (welcome pack), iron and ironing board, tea/coffee service, hair dryer, shower, make-up mirror, quality amenities, alarm clock and electronic safe deposit box (with charge). Golf Trolleys can be reserved by prior request and depending on availability.

All Inclusive Food & Drinks
The AI programme consists of breakfast (07:00-10:00), lunch (12:30-15:00) and dinner (18:30-22:00), all buffet style, served in the Las Garzas restaurant. During meals hot beverages, soft drinks and local alcoholic drinks are offered. A la Carte breakfast can be taken at the El Dorado from 10:30-11:30. Also at the disposal of the AI guests in the A la Carte restaurants, are three themed dinners per week of stay, from 18:30-22:00; El Dorado (grilled meat), El Pescador (fish & seafood - non smoking), Jardin de Jade (Oriental - non smoking) - prior reservation required. Snacks such as hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, pasta, pizza, sandwiches, French fries, fruit, etc are available 24 hours at the snack bar beach club (except when the El Dorado restaurant is open). Locally produced alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks like mineral water, juices, cocktails, coffee, brandy, rum, vodka, whiskey, gin, etc are served at Merengue swim-up bar (10:00-18:00), Hicotea pool terrace bar (10:00-24:00), Getaway bar (21:00-23:00), Oxygen bar (09:00-20:00) and at the El Dorado beach bar (24 hours).
All Inclusive Sports & Entertainment
Sport facilities at the hotel include aerobics, aqua-aerobics, bicycles, darts, French bowls, daytime tennis, table tennis, volleyball, water polo, kayaks, sailing, snorkelling, windsurfing, one introductory scuba diving lesson at the pool per stay, as well as frequent daytime activities (with beach & pool games, sports, Spanish lessons, cooking lessons, yoga, tai-chi) and evening entertainment (with live music, shows, dancing).

The accommodation and staff were excellent. Breakfast was excellent. Lunch was same every day - burgers, pizza (fast food). Evening meals varied to suit everyone but although they tried to cater for all nationalities i.e., chinese, mexican, dominican - there was not much english choice in an evening.
No entertainment after 11pm at night with the exception of 2 evenings when the on site entertainment staff carried the disco on until 11.45pm. Otherwise had to leave the site every evening to go to be taken to a casino/disco at 11.30pm every evening returning at 3am. It would be much better to have entertainment, music playing so that residents could all get together to socialise/dance and use the bar facilities on site.
Security onsite was excellent, did feel safe walking around complex. Not really comfortable when leaving site due to locals approaching you to take you to 'flea market'.

Top Tip:
If you walk on the beach to the left for about 10 minutes, the sea is much clearer than in front of the site, and there is a reef which is ideal for snorkling.
On site chinese restaurant was excellent.

“ Great adults-only resort hotel. Friendly staff and both relaxed and partyatmosphere, depending on which pool you lounged beside! Entertainment staff available all day long to provide distractions and encourage new friendships. Food from the buffet was plentiful, though lacking in variety and not always as hot as it should have been. The a la carte restaurants on site were superb - book early to avoid disappointment! Beach a two minute walk from your room, clean and well maintained, with plenty of quality loungers and shade provided, and a bar to keep you refreshed. The sea was clear, warm, and delightful to swim in even on windy, choppy days. A wealth of trips to introduce you to the island and its many attractions. Nearby plaza stocked wth gift shops which, though expensive, catered for every need.
“ Top Tip: Brave or seasoned travellers would be advised to catch a pony and cart to visit the local flea market for souvenirs, or at the very least take a stroll down the beach to the less selubrious, but much cheaper gift shops.

“ i have just returned from the above resort, on arrival very disappointed with room, when booked i paid extra for room upgrade there was no upgrade my room was a standard double not a superior double like i booked. a request for none smoking room was ? taken into account but every morning the room and especially the bathroom had a strong smell of smoke, The entertainment in the hotel was very disapponting not a big enough area with no fans and not enough seating, the (crew) as the staff were called tried very hard and did their best with the space avalible. this is a adult only resort but all entertainment stopped at 10.30.

“ HOTEL IS NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL - ITS A GOOD 3 STAR AT BEST. ITS CLEAN AND A PLEASANT PLACE TO STAY. THERE A SMALL THINGS THAT COULD BE BETTER BUT NOTHING SO BAD I WOULD SAY DONT GO.

The hotel accomodation, entertainment, and food was fantastic, we had read some poor reviews before we set off but the negative reviews could have been put right if the customers went to see the reception. The staff were fantastic and the hospitality was excellent. The staff always have a smile and make time for you. We did hear some customers being rude to some staff but there was no need for it . These people have no respect for others The Dominicans are the friendliest and kindest I have met even the beach sellars are friendly once you get to know them especially CHEAPY WILLIE BUY ONE GET ONE KISS.
I would just like to add , Many many thanks for the hospitality and kindness given through travel republic, we had to stay an extra 4 days due to the volcanoe eruption, we were well looked after with no extra cost, we will deffinately travel with travel republic again.
“ Top Tip: The Hotel was a minutes walk from the beach had three pools all suiting different needs e.g chill out , entertainment, and swim all with bars near by !!!!
