“ This hotel was brilliant in some ways and v bad in others.Blocks 1 2 &3 rooms good but 4-7 badly need updating so pay for de lux room.Pools great and on the beach which was lovely.Sea rough mostly although weather very nice. Hotel bars are dreary and uninviting, but bar staff good and friendly mostly.Reception staff mainly unfriendly and seem to go out of their way to be unhelpfull and avoid helping you. This was not a one off observation it happened daily and every time we needed help. All staff are slow and daft though it sounds their memories are really poor and consistantley forget what you want. That or they enjoy winding you up! We had 3 lights out in our room and complained daily and at least 5 times before it was rectified....this proved to be the norm so if anything is wrong just keep on and on!Service in general restaurant poor and food often not good. But hotel has 6 speciality restaurants which were really good and food was equal to eating in good a la carte, mostly service much better there too.So eat there as you can book as many times as you like at 9.00am on the day. By far the worse thing at this hotel was the public toilets. Its a big hotel complex and has two sets of toilets inside both were unclean and usually blocked. But the worst was the toilets serving pool area and beach. They were inside poolbar/restaurant so had massive use and were blocked and wet and smelly by 11.am every day!!Horrendous!!!Our room was reasonably near so walked back there mostly but some rooms long way from pools and there are lots of tummy upsets!!! There was no urgencey about anything for the staff...one day a canadian woman vomited all over the pool area after drinking too much and although security helped her partner take her to her room (eventually) the vomit remained for hours with people walking throuhg it unaware!Gross! We were only english there that we heard mainly canadians and south americans /french and italians. Would go back as beach/weather/restaurant good..but only in delux room.Travel rep usually v good but this time let down by rep(never showed up)and transfers a muddle too.
“ Top Tip: Keep complaining if something wrong.Upgrade room

“ Wonderful stay at the Barcelo Premium Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - second visit in 4 years - even better this time they have upgraded the hotel and is very substantial - The speciality restaurants were out of this world - apart from the Dominican Restaurant. You could go to the speciality restaurants as many times as you wished if there were vacancies - we never had a problem booking. The swimming pools were fantastic 2 big fresh water pools and a childrens pool with slides. An ideal holiday for singles, couples and families. An idylic holiday in a perfect setting.
“ Top Tip: Make sure you take 1 dollar bills and tip the staff they are lovely and you always get better treatment and they loved our children

“ The only fault I had was that there were only a handful of english people at the hotel. Lots of large groups of teenagers from various countries. So my teenage daughter had a fab time.
“ Top Tip: beach was excellent and my daughter spent hours on the Trapeze

was our third time to this hotel and it keeps getting better. now it has been taken over by the barcelo chain alot of money has been invested and the work done to date is to an extremley high standard.
we love it so much there we are off there again in 5 months, i think the fact that this will be my fourth time to the same hotel speaks for itself.
“ Top Tip: if you want a good nightclub speak to the entertainment team as they often go to a different hotel which has a really good nightclub in. it is the flamenco hotel in punta cana, the club is called mangu. very good!!!!

I have to say that this was the best Holiday I have ever had! I have been to New York, Shanghai and other far flung places, but have to say that if you want to go and get totally chilled, this is the place to go. The Hotel room was fine. The towels were changed every day. The themed restaurants were good, particularly Tokio. The main buffet restaurant was excellent and having stayed over Halloween; the artistry in the food and cakes were amaizing. The food and drink which was on tap from about 7am until about 1.00am was just tom die for. The beach was sheer paradise, just miles of golden soft sand and a beautiful turquoise sea. I had read previous reports that the entertainment was poor!! There were shows on an outside stage with dancing and cabaret most nights, it was terrific! The hotel staff and evryone were really friendly and walked around smiling all the time.
If you want to get seriously horizontal- go to this place, I cant wait to go back!!
