Check-in date:

Our Egyptian colleague contacted the hotel to advise them that, due to a late business meeting, we would not be arriving until 11.00 p.m. We had booked half board. On arriving at 11.00 p.m. the hotel reception upgraded our room to a junior suite at no extra charge and, as the restaurant was closed, there was a menu in the room, which we could order from. There was no charge for the late meal. The room was lovely with a side sea view. The hotel is in a great location and has lots of character but needs a little updating. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very nice. The hotel reception couldn't have been more helpful and we would throughly recommend a stay here.

The staff at the hotel were amazing and made us very welcome. At breakfast they were very attentive. The lemon juice we were given on arrival was very welcome after a 6 hour train journey.
It was quite noisy as it was on the Said Zaghoul square but very convenient for all the sights.

Top Tip: There is a beach cafe near the Biblioteque which is hidden away but it is a great place to watch the waves and have a Nescafe.

Check-in date:

Old Worlde hotel near the Corniche and a pleasant 20-30 minute stroll to the harbour and citadel. Streets outside are noisy when the room window is open but the glazing was effective in keeping sound out when closed. Staff friendly and very helpful when it came to finding out about train times and stations for our departure to Cairo.

Check-in date:

This hotel is in an excellent location, right in the centre of town. We had a sea view room and we would recommend one of these. We arrived from the train station and the reception is at the rear of the building so we never saw any view upon arrival. However when we were shown to our room and opened the balcony doors the view across the bay was stunning, well worth the extra few pounds. The staff at this hotel were all very friendly and most helpful and were well versed in english, french & arabic. Especially the breakfast staff. The best hotel we had on our holiday in Egypt.

Top Tip: Chinese restaurant on top of the Cecil Hotel, just across the road was fantastic. Open air with great views across the bay and great place for a sunset meal.
Tram station is right next to the hotel but although extremely cheap you would be quicker walking at most times of the day if you are in a hurry.
The beaches around the bay are very busy with natives but by our own recognised standards they are very littered with rubbish in and out of the water so don't plan to take a dip if you are worried about hygiene.

Check-in date:

This hotel is great - i was amazed by the size of the room and the bed, having only booked a single room. It is an old hotel and the fittings are not pristine but it was clean and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay. It is close to the sea front, to restaurants and some of the places to see in Alex.

Top Tip: I enjoyed the seafront, the bibliotheque and the roman amphitheatre ruins. The Greco-roman Museum was shut.
