Pyramisa Sahl Hasheesh Beach Resort

“ We had a great holiday but the Pyramisa, Sahl Hasheesh definitely caters first and foremost for Russians. The gala ball for Christmas was very disappointing. We would not return to this hotel and would not recommend it to any of our friends but we made the most of our time there.

“ Top Tip: The beach at the hotel is fabulous and the staff are first class.

“ The hotel and staff were brilliant and couldnt do enough for us. Wewere one of only a handful of English people, and they clearly want to get more into the hotel as it was mainly Russian and they are rude and abrupt.

The hotel has only recently been taken over about 1 month ago and the changes are very positive, small things that are making a stay there even more enjoyable.

The hotel is massive and even though was very full you didnt feel like you were ontop of people.

Would highly recommend the hotel to family and friends.

“ Top Tip: Do the sahara safari - its well worth the £36 we paid, picked up at 12.20pm and didnt get back to the hotel until 9.15pm, we were fed twice, rode camels, quads and dune buggies plus local evening entertainment like belly dancing etc.

“ Just returned from the Pyramisa and was generally impressed. The hotel is very big and well looked after but a few minor things let it down. First night we got there we checked in which was very efficient and went to the pool bar for a drink. We were shocked when we were served a beer in a small polysyrene cup which was not even filled to the top. We did get round this by keeping hold of two tall half pint plastic glasses from the bar the next day and kept using them during the night. The rooms are spacious with a large shower and cleaned daily, two bottles of water left every day. The pool areas are fantastic both of which you can swim up to and sit on a stool in the water to have a drink although they could have been kept a bit cleaner. Never struggled for sunbeds as this is a quiet resort with nothing to do outside of the hotel. The main restaurant let the hotel down slightly as there was not much difference in choice of food for 2 weeks and it was not hot enough. It is also self service, not only for food but for your drinks as well, which i thought was not very good for a 5* hotel. If you like excellent service and drinks in glasses then go to the reception bar which is large and very chilled out. The entertainment team were very good and will kepep young kids occupied day and night. There were a few shows on at night but from my point of view a bit tacky and you will have seen them all before. The beach bar is very good with good service, you can get a late breakfast there and at lunch they do a barbecue. Again no problems getting a sun bed on beach and it is kept very clean and tidy. It is a long stretch of private beach and the sea is crystal clear. For me the beer and the food let it down slightly and for that reason i would say it is only a 4*. On the whole thoroughly enjoyed it and would go back.

“ Top Tip: Trip to the valley of the kings was good, about £70 each.
Beach is excellent.
If you like a beer at night get hold of the tall half pint plastic glasses and keep them for duration of holiday.

“ Nice hotel on a beautiful sandy beach (great place for snorkelling). I would rate it 4 star though rather than 5, service was below average. Unless you tip them they won't bother, or you will have to wait for too long.
Food was really good, always fresh, lots of choice for everyone, however not many fish choices, mainly meat, salads, pasta, potatoes, etc... but cooked nicely, unlimited drinks (water, soft drinks), however only local alcoholic beverages. Egyptian beer is quite nice, cocktails were ok, but the wine was terrible.
Nevertheless it didn't bother us as we didn't want to drink too much, it was too hot (July/August temperature plus 40 .
The desert selection was impressive- over 15 different deserts every day!
Breakfast was amazing, omlets, pancakes, but no English option ( didn’t bother us).-45 degrees is normal).
Please note this hotel is a good choice for families with (or without ) kids (great animation team), but it would be too boring for young buzzy couples, it's too far away from everything (30 min in a taxi to the centre of Hurghda).
The hotel had a good mix of many nationalities (Egyptians, Russians and other Eastern Europeans ( (who were actually more polite than Egyptians!, these ones just didn’t want to queue at all), French, Germans, but in all honesty not many English (may be 2 or 3 couples). Once again, it didn't bother us as we are fed up with English binge drinking in the UK anyway (interestingly, apparently it's untrue that Russians are heavy drinkers, even when they drink at least they can handle their drink:), Moreover, we didn't see a single drunk occupant in this hotel (stayed 2 weeks), even though the alcohol was 100% accessible at all times. It was nice to see the difference from the English crowd of tourists!
The hotel's SPA offer massages at additional cost (£55 for an amazing 2 hours scrub, sauna and full body massage session). This has given me a total relaxation! Highly recommended! Next time we go I'll book 3, as in that case you get the 4th massage for free!

We went to see the Pyramids and Luxor. In my opinion if you go to Egypt you must see these amazing pieces of history, just because they are so significant. Cairo is dirty and unwelcoming, so not worth going there for a 2 day trip. We went there for just 1 day and it was enough.
Luxor is much nicer, lots of history, Temples, very beautiful. Still, 1 day was enough for us.
Overall, as a couple with a child we would certainly go back to the hotel. If you need a really relaxing holiday this hotel is the right place!

“ Top Tip: 1. You must try their Nefertary massage (in the hotel's spa £55 for 2 hours), you will never get anything similar to it in the UK.
