“ i have stayed at this hotel before and it wasnt as good as it used to be, but a week after i left it was closing to be refurbished so now knowing that i wouldnt have expected any different. They are hardly going to do any work on the place when it is closing down.
“ Top Tip: get to know the locals they are fantastic people very helpfull and freindly and the best way to find out the best things to do, where to go where to eat etc is to ask them.

Booked a quiet twin bedded room. Allocated a double. Changed this to a twin and were given a roon next to lift shaft. Changed again next day. Found in room cleaning below average and laundry left in room was uncollected for 3 days.
Restaurant at breakfast was hopeless. Waiters running around like ants not knowing what to do. Asked four times for tea, 4 times for glasses for orange juice, 4 times for bread for toast. Seemed to be a shortage of spoons. Tables not laid up properley No organisation at all. Had meeting with management and all present seemed to be of the same opinion. The hotel is being pulled down and has gone down hill rapidly.
“ Top Tip: Hairdressers were good. Snobs and Jamboree for eating. Food hot and well presented.

“ As good a position as any Luxor hotel. Unfortunately no BBC World Service TV- surprising since most guests were English. Good daily room servicing. Very helpful staff. Breakfasts quite good but staff unable to cope with later higher guest-volume sittings, sometimes taking 5 or 6 requests for cutlery, hot-water, crockery, teabags, milk, tea-spoons etc. etc. So avoid being later than 8.45!!

“ the staff were helfull and attentive at all times. lovely gardens, and settings and good to see the hotel has seen some refurbishment as it was starting to look a little tired in parts
“ Top Tip: murphys irish bar, 7 ways for 7 days. both excellent places to eat and cheap. the travel agent at the bottom of the steps at the entrace to the old winter palace does great tours and excurstion far cheaper than any of the tour reps can offer and are just as good.
