Sol Y Mar Abu Dabbab Hotel

“ The above score is based upon us buying a 5* All Inclusive holiday that wasn't! No alchoholic drinks whatsoever, with only tea, coffee, Sprite, Coca Cola, Orange Fanta (non no-calorie) and all from a dispenser, plus water from a water cooler available (no bottles or cans of anything)!
Hotel 99% Italians - the 3 of us were the only Brits. All entertainment in Italian, so evenings pretty dull, and there is litterally no-where to go outside the hotel. Food OK, but nothing special and Rameses had his revenge on all of us after 3-4 days with none of us daring to venture far from the loo for the rest of the holiday.
Hotel is only 6 months old, so generally in decent condition - rooms good, and kept clean, decent beds, staff pleasant and helpful, but not speedy. Be prepared to wait. Good taxi service based at the hotel, but no-where to go apart from local dive sites (we were diving). They organised the transfers from and to Marsa Alam airport well and its less than 1/2 hour away so pretty painless.
The 5* rating is presumably based on the range of facilities, not necessarily the quality of them. . There was no information whatsoever in English - not even a sheet of A4 giving meal times and a list of facilities. All a little disappointing.
