Myself, boyfriend, Mum and Dad stayed for a week mid-March at the Baron Palms. I would definitely recommend this hotel for recharging the batteries - a wonderful week of relaxation.

The Hotel and grounds are immaculate, very well maintained and clean - in fact the marble stairs were painstakingly buffed and polished while we were there.

Pool area is lovely. The cold pool is VERY cold - be warned! Sunbeds were the most comfortable I've ever lounged on though.

Beach is lovely and just a short stroll away. Again, plenty of comfy loungers and a good service from the Beach Bar. Walking out into the sea can be painful on the feet - either walk to the end of the jetty and get into the sea from there or buy some dive shoes.

Rooms are a good size, cleaned every day with fresh sheets and towels daily. We stayed in 346 which had a larger balcony than the others. Bathroom only had a shower cubicle but plenty of elbow room.

Food was good. The Egyptian restaurant was the best, but the Pool Bar Restaurant was also good. Buffet breakfast had plenty of choice, including freshly made waffles, pancakes, omelettes and fried eggs. We usually ate lunch at the Pool Bar - usual burgers, pizza etc but tasty. Only ate in the Main restaurant for our evening meal twice. The theme changes daily and the food is good, but I'm not a big fan of buffet sytle eating.

AI drinks - the local vodka and brandy are nothing to write home about. We all ended up drinking beer all week (the local beer is nice) other than one evening when a few international cognacs with coke set us back about £50!!

Staff are all very friendly and helpful, especially in the Pool Bar and Veranda. Management are very visible and interested, which ensures all staff are top notch.

We went to Soho Square one evening and had a wonderful meal at the Steakhouse above the Queen Vic pub. Best meal of the holiday and at £110 for two beers, lobster and prawn starters and two fillet steaks, not a bad price.

Only two negatives from this holiday. Firstly the bed in the room is the hardest and most uncomfortable EVER. I ended up with a frozen shoulder by the end of the week. If I could have slept on one of the sun loungers at night I would have!

Secondly there are no toilets on the beach - you have to walk back to the toilets next to the pool.

In summary, a fantastic, chilled week in the sun and I would definitely recommend Baron Palms.

Check-in date:

Nice hotel, beautiful swimming pool area and wide sandy beach, very helpful staff in restaurants and on front desk, but not 5 star standard, more like a 4 star, as rooms were small, beds hard and uncomfortable, public rooms were squashy and hard to find seats at busy times, and the food in the buffet and "paradise cafe" was limited and uninspiring but compensated for by the pleasant staff. It was also difficult to get bookings in the speciality Egyptian restaurant at busy times, despite this being included in the "all inclusive" package.

Top Tip: You have to walk past a parade of small local shops to get from the hotel to the beach, which had some interesting merchandise, but got fed up with being constantly hustled by some of the shop owners.

Check-in date:

Hotel was very quiet probably due to current trouble in Egypt.

All areas are kept very clean and sheets, towels etc changed daily.

Food in restaurant is OK, there is always something you can eat although it was always just warmish, never hot! Also lots of silly little bite sized a la carte bits and pieces which were a waste of time - i.e. a dish the size of an egg cup with a lettce leaf and some grated carrot on it!!

The all inclusive drinks were not great - we ended up buying drinks which are very expensive.

One pool is heated which was a lovely temperature.

Check-in date:

This hotel was probably the cleanest and most efficient I have ever stayed in. The staff were all friendly and extremely helpful and if we asked at reception for anything to be done, it was done immediately and without any fuss. The beach was beautiful and again kept very clean. Rose water sprays were offered on the beach when it was very hot and pristine white flannels soaked in rose water brought round at midday every day. We had a really good time and would definitely consider returning.
