The hotel was large (over 500 rooms) and both it and the surrounding grounds were kept spotless by plentiful courteous, helpful and efficient staff. The bedrooms were big and well-appointed and also immaculately maintained. Bar and restaurant staff were excellent.

The evening entertainment was not what I would have chosen and, judging by the fact that it was very sparsely attended, it obviously did not appeal to many others. The management may need to consider some changes here.

The major problem for my wife and me (and for many other guests, who circulated a petition and complained to the management) was the food. Only one of the three restaurants on site was available for the all-inclusive package and the food there was served buffet style. All hot meals were displayed in chafing dishes, which meant by the time you served yourself the food could have been sitting there for a long time. It was entirely uninspired, bland, boring, luke warm, usually over-cooked and on one occasion inedible. As the other two restaurants would have charged me extra to sample food produced from the same kitchen, I was not tempted to experiment! A great shame as this rather ruined the holiday for us and has dragged my hotel rating down to no better than average.

Top Tip: Taba Heights consists of four large American-style self-contained resort hotels, situated side by side along the beach. Other than an 18 hole golf course and a water sports centre half a mile down the beach there is nothing else there and nowhere else to go. The surrounding country is spectacular but bleak and desolate, mountains and desert with not a blade of grass in sight. Poor weather during our stay meant that we had to spend a great deal of time in the hotel building. We shall not be returning!

Check-in date:

Lovely spacious hotel and grounds. Pool areas good, one large heated pool and the kids still enjoyed the shallow unheated splash pools too (in December). We all enjoyed the daily aqua gym and la vacca entertainers! We could not fault the food, and the staff do all they can to ensure everyone is happy. The all inclusive bars are great but you are not permitted to take drinks to the room. All in all we had a fantastic holiday and will return... This hotel is highly recommended.

Top Tip: Private boat trip with snorkelling (2h or 4h) from the watersports centre/marina is fantastic and excellent value for a group

Check-in date:

The Intercontinental in Taba Heights is in a beautiful location. The rooms are huge and the staff are very courteous and obliging. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.

The food is average but there is something to suit all tastes. The evening entertainment is very low key but there is a party atmoshphere in the Court yard.

Top Tip: On Fridays at the Three Corners there is an open air festival with a live band. The Birds Nest Thai restaurant is a must, the food is excellent. It was nice to eat early then join in the festivities after.

We went all inclusive for one week which we think is best way if you want any alcohol! its expensve to say the least if you have to pay each time you order.
very nice hotel..nice staff..nice pools...
Evening entertainment was disappointing.
Food was generally good but have a slight feeling that if we were staying for 2 weeks the menu's would almost certainly be "repetitive"..they could use more imagination in the restaurants..
Is it 5 star?
Not by UK standards but in Egypt almost certainly it is. we would say its probably the best at Taba heights with possible exception of Hyatt Regency.

Top Tip: The hotel is next to 3 other similar hotels. thats it.
