Check-in date:

Pleasant, comfortable and clean room. Good bathroom facility with lovely shower and soap provided. Effective hairdryer too! Iron and ironing board supplied - also effective. Good air conditioning in the bedroom. Comfy bed. My room looked out over a quiet street and there was no disturbance from the corridor. Good blackout curtains for those of us not used to white summer nights!

I WISH there had been tea-making facilities in the bedroom!
The colour on the television screen was lurid.

BREAKFAST: EXCELLENT! Amazing variety of lovely food and drink. (except for the tea which was unusual to a 'Tetley' palate!)
STAFF: on the ball, helpful and kindly and fluent in English.
DINING: we had one evening meal in the hotel, having got used to finnish prices, and it was tasty and well presented and enough to satisfy. Having ordered, some bread was brought and water and we didn't have too long to wait for our food.
HOTEL DECOR: the impression is light and clean with lots of marble floor and chrome and finger-print-free mirror lift doors in the foyer. carpeted corridors and dining room.

Top Tip: Dennis Pizza restaurant - one of a chain, very good handmade pizza and huge!

Great Helsinki architecture everywhere you turn.

Check-in date:

This hotel was absolutely lovely - the room was large, very clean, had free internet access (via own laptop etc), quiet despite being next to a lift, comfy beds, underfloor heating in the bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic, a wide range of things to choose from - cooked, cereal, bread, fruit, yoghurt, pancakes, sweet things, cheeses and meats etc, really excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there were even free bikes you could borrow, although we were put off by the lack of handbrakes (back pedal only).
Only downside was the airconditioning - the windows were locked so you couldn't open them and have natural fresh air.

Top Tip: If you get a Helsinki card then the 1.5 hour audio tour is good, and nearly makes the investment in the one day card worth it by itself @ 27 Euros.
Lots of good restaurants near the hotel, but to save on cash and enjoy good food too, fill your boots at the university cafeteria (Unicafe) near the Stockmann department store and Sokos Hotel, opposite the Forum shopping centre behind an older building. You can have a main course with bread and salad for about 6 Euros per person, and you can pretty much have as much as you can fit on your plate. Students get a discount off this price too. Well worth it, good quality food.

Breakfast superb!
Pleasant room with blackout curtain which I needed for sleeping as not used to the long Finnish day!
situated on a quite street.
very pleasant service from the young girl in the bar.
Hotel clean and well presented with play facilities for young children near the foyer
Clean well-appointed bathroom.
on the downside - arriving on Sunday evening, we found that the restaurant closed at 19.30. However reception recommended another place quite near - 'Virgin Oil.co'
