Sokos Torni Hotel

“ We only stayed for one night this time but this hotel is lovely. The room was so nicely decorated and comfortable, had the best night sleep during our stay as the bed was so comfy. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The view is amazing from the rooftop bar and its nice to sit there and enjoy it with a nice coctail although as with Finland in general they are very expensive.

The hotel is only a short walk from the train station and easy to find behind the Forum shopping centre. Its also quite central so easy access to shops, bars and restaurants and its not even that far to get to the market although if youre not a walker you can get a bus or tram to get around.

I've stayed in a sokos hotel before but this is so much nicer, although there are no spa/sauna facilities available there is a swimming hall literally opposite.

Breakfast is your typical mix of fruit, cereal, cold meat and cheese and toast etc but they do warm cooked food too. No complaints about food its ok, generally what you'd expect in a Finnish hotel.

“ Top Tip: Worth a visit are The Ice Bar on Yliopistonkatu opposite Memphis Bar, its named under Popkellari. If you go in the summer try the Pub Tram its great fun, you can enjoy a drink whilst it takes you around the city. It only seems to run between june-aug though so I was quite disappointed we missed it as my partner hadn't been on it yet.

Also if you love walking and want spectacular views go to Hämeenlinna - Aulanko which is only about an hour train ride away, its well worth it.

Also if you want to visit Suomenlinna its a nice little boat trip from the harbour by the market and costs only 6.50eur each for return ticket.
