Sokos Vaakuna Hotel

“ Hotel was beautiful inside, very clean and tidy. We ordered a twin but recieved a double (which was fine) however our friend who booked a single room had a balcony so we were a bit miffed about having a smaller room having paid more money!

The staff were exceptionally helpful, breakfast was of a high quality and the hotel was very comfortable. This hotel was close to the city centre but not too much that it was noisy, and is on top of a department store and supermarket. A shuttle bus to and from the airport drops you off a few metres down the road so it was very convienent location.

“ Top Tip: We walked along the coast, and about 20 minutes from the harbour we found a little cafe/bar called Mattolaituri that overlooked the sea. It was expensive (12€ for 2 pints) but the view was stunning and it was well worth it.

“ Fantastic hotel right in the heart of the city, very close to railway station and airport bus stop. Large well equipped rooms. Breakfast excellent quality and good choice.

“ The hotel was very clean and modern and the service was friendly. I was given a room on the 9th floor and had a stunning view over Helsinki.The hotel is located next to the main train station and bus station. You can catch a bus to the airport for 6 euros and the journey is only 30 minutes.

“ Top Tip: Restaurant 'Loiste' is located on the 10th floor of this hotel and has fantastic food with views over Helsinki. There is also a terrace in the summer. A Belgiun beer bar V'ltava is right next door and there is a spanish wine bar downstairs of the hotel. Also a department store in the same building with fabulous food to buy for snacks if you are on a budget.

“ Top Tip: Excellent Finnish restaurant just behind the corner on Mannerheim street called Kaarna. Lunch puffet for €10.10 was brilliant! Thoroughly recommend!
