Hôtel Comté De Nice

“ This was the third time we had stayed at the comte de Nice and the first time we had visited in spring rather than summer. We booked a double room for two nights with breakfast. The hotel is situated a good 25 minute walk out of the city center but as we had stayed before and knew where we were going this wasn't really an issue. The staff at reception were very friendly and spoke very good English and German as well as french. We were given a room on the 5th floor which was very clean but basic as we expected. The only issue with this room was the slanted ceiling above the bed and above the toilet which made life a bit difficult for my rather tall partner. On the first night we were annoyed to find we had been put on the same floor as what appeared to be a school trip with about twenty 16 year olds occupying the rooms around us, the door banging and shouting went on until the early hours on both nights of our stay with the staff only responding to complaints at around 2am on our final night. Breakfast is a cold buffet which was rather sparse (however probably to be expected with dozens of hungry teenagers around) but tasty enough. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet break or to anyone wanting to be close to the bars and restaurants, there is a tram service near by which can have you in old Nice in about 10 minutes but this is often over crowded. I would suggest this hotel to anyone simply looking for a base and who doesn't mind a good walk.

“ Top Tip: If you have not booked to stay with breakfast there is a supermarket right behind the hotel where you can pick up snacks and drinks alot cheaper than in the nearby convenience stores.

“ Tram runs all day until 1.00am in the morning close to the hotel 1 euro a trip 4euros for all day this ticket will get you too and from the airport.They run every three minutes during the day so you can be in the old town or on the beach in a very short time.The hotel is ideally situated close to supermarket,boulangeries,and a small train station which takes you on trips into the alpes de maritime and ancient hill villages.The hotel is 2 star but great value for pleasant helpful staff, good breakfasts and the bedding, towells etc immaculate.This is the fourth time we have stayed there.

“ Top Tip: Cimiez with its Roman ruins monastery garden with rose garden and Matisse museum is worth seeing as is the Opera house.We went to a very good Sunday lunchtime concert there.There is a good market close to the hotel too selling fish,flowers vegetables etc.The seafront is always nice to walk along and the buses to Monaco, Menton etc are only 1 euro each way.Lots of museums are free.

“ Top Tip: Use the bus from the airport, only 4 Euros and goes straight to the train station, about 10 mins walk to the hotel

“ Due to a delayed flight arrival into Nice, I didn't arrive at the hotel until gone 11pm but the receptionist on duty was extremely kind and helpful, and even went above and beyond the call of duty to provide me with a complementary hot drink. My stay was only short (overnight) but my short time there was very comfortable, the breakfast was nice, the room was nicer and larger than I expected. If I get the chance to stay in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to stay in this hotel.
