On checking in the receptionist appeared to have no details of our booking despite me presenting her with the documentation. She then asked for my credit card to take for the local tax of 1.5 euros per person per day. Not a great start. Our superior room was nice but a few small disappointments - 1 gown, no slippers although they referred to in room, only small things but not good enough.
Breakfast was ok, very standard but nothing special. Location of this hotel in relation to public transport is very good and probably the only thing that would persuade me to stay again.

Top Tip: Great for public transport links.

Breakfast choice was poor especially the cooked english and it was cold. The toaster was inadequate only allowing two slices to be toasted at once which caused delay and also the coffee machines did not dispense well and not particularly hot. The tea and coffee faciltities in the room were not replenished and milk tubs would have been better than the powder sachets as there was fridge facilities. The television viewing was extremely limited with no english channels apart from world news and no film channels available.
The swimming pool was extremely cold and the snack bar was shut. The gym facilities were very limited.
the reception staff were helpful and approachable and it was very useful to be able to leave out cases securely at the hotel once we had vacated the room as we had an early evening flight.

Overall, the experience was good. The tram stop was conveniently just 100 yeards from the front doors and at 1€ per trip, was great value. About 5 tram-stops to the centre and then from there, another few hundered yards to the beach (Promenade d'Englais, which is stony, by the way).

More on the hotel- The restaurant was good and reasonably priced (25€ per person on average for a steak/fish dinner) compared to the restaurants in Nice centre. We did not have the breakfast which I thought was a bit steep at 20€ per person, so can't comment on the value there.

Just 2 bugbears which potential guests should be aware of:
1. The advert did not state that the pool was not open till May/June. We came in April and we thought it was warm enough.
2. The advert also did not state that air-conditioning was not on till May/June. Because it was warm when we went, we had to open the windows to get cool, and the sound of the traffic was a bit of a nuisance.

4 stars in my estimation is a bit of an overestimation. I would give it 3 1/2.

Top Tip: Also I recommend taking the number 100 bus from JC Bermond (tram stop Opera Ville de ville) 1€ each way to Monaco (what great value for an hour's ride).

Staff all excellent, very helpful and happy in their work.Hotel clean ,modern and
reasonably priced. very few guests ate in the hotel for dinner which was a shame
as the food was ok but no atmosphere.Tram( 1 euro) is saving grace as hotel is far from the action.

Continental Breakfast was excellent, with every breakfast item you could want, from cooked to pasteries and cereal, yoghurts tea coffee and juice. The Rooms are very spacious with big comfy beds and satelite TV. Staff were very helpful.
My only complaint would be that the hotel advertised and even told us that the swimming pool was open, but in fact, as it is on the roof, it is closed throughout the winter months, which is a shame. The gym is small and not what I would consider fully stocked.

Top Tip: What I would say about nice is that the transport system is amazing- so cheap and very frequent. We went to the Cafe de Turin for Moules et Frites; however it was quite expensive and other resturants in the old town had set menus which were good value and their bowls of mussels were much nicer.

I reccommend taking a bus to Monaco, it cost us just 1 Euro each way, and the route along the coast is great to sit back and enjoy. The oceanic museum and acquarium on top of the hill is well worth the 14 Euros.
