“ The staff were extremely helpful whether it be about the hotel or where to visit. They were also knowledgeable about local transport. The hotel was in a perfect location for everything. I would definately return there.
“ Top Tip: A fantastic Italian Restaurant close by called Ville Corleone was excellent for a special meal. Emiles Cookie cafe in the old town was lovely for home-made cookies and bagels.

“ We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions in the past and the breakfast was one of the attractions (although not the only one). For the first part of the week it was a bit of a shambles, pigeons allowed to run riot, disinterested staff, poorly stocked buffet and constantly running out of plates, cups etc. Second half was a vast improvement with a change of staff and everything far better run. Breakfast was not as luxurious as previously though - notice they have reduced price for those paying separately but the reduction does not reflect the decline in variety etc. The hotel itself is in an ideal position and very nice. Would we go again - not sure. We are considering trying the Westminster or the Palais de Meditteranee.
“ Top Tip: Try Acchiardo in Rue Droite in the old town for very simple good value food with excellent service. Also, just up the road a little, Du Gesu is great for good value pasta and pizza. Best to book for Acchiardo if you can and turn up at 7pm when they open for Du Gesu if you don't want to wait for a table.

The hotel is fine but my daughter was upgraded to a junior suite with dated furnishings. We got scammed into paying an additional 30€ per room per night for a sea view despite our booking saying "Twin Room City View" (Deluxe Sea View), maybe someone from TR could explain just exactly what the room description actually means. My daughter's room had more of a tree than sea view as the palm tree at the front
of the hotel more or less obscured the view.
Breakfast was OK, plenty of choice. Staff OK
“ Top Tip: Take plenty money.....Nice has become outrageously expensive over the last few years with a round of 4 drinks coming in at 34€.....ouch!!!

“ One of the two lifts was out of action for the whole of our 3 day stay.
“ Top Tip: For the Nice Carnival, try to get a room at the front (sea view) of the hotel.

“ We specifically asked for 2 twin bedded rooms - connecting or near to each other if possible and refurbished. The booking was made in January. On arrival both rooms (3 floors apart) were 'family' type rooms with a double bed and bunk beds. We informed the receptionist that these room were not suitable for 4 ladies and another room was offered with twin beds but was tiny, extremely shabby with stained carpets, no mirror in the bedroom, faded wallpaper etc. I returned to the receptionist and informed her that our accomodation was not satisfactory and far below the standard we were expecting. I was told the hotel was fully booked but they would see what they could do the next day. The following morning a lot of time was spent trying to sort out suitable accomodation and eventually after much pressing our rooms were changed and I was offered an upgrade on 1 room to a room with a sea view and the second room had twin beds as requested. Both myself and my friends found the whole episode time consuming and embarassing. No apologies were offered. The first night none of us had any sleep and we only had 2 more nights remaining. The West End is a beautiful hotel but there appeared to be a great shortage of staffing and requests for drinks, coffee making facilities etc were either not met or took several requests. Breakfast was served on the terrace, part of which was covered but birds were constantly flying in which was both scary and unhygenic. Not what one expects of a 4 star hotel. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and we enjoyed dinner on one evening and lunch before we left. Some of the staff were very helpful.
“ Top Tip: The hotel is situated next to the Negresco Hotel and is in a great location on the Promenade des Anglais. It was so frustrating and disappointing that the rooms originally assigned to us were of such poor quality. I welcome your comments and your assessment of the situation.
