Alliance Lille Couvent Des Minimes Hotel
17 Quai du Wault, Lille 59000
Lille, Pas-de-calais, France
4 Star Hotel
The Couvent des Minimes is set in a 17th century Flemish style listed building, formerly a convent. Renovated, then re-opened as a hotel in 1990, it has retained many historical features such as cloisters with vaulted ceilings and original red-brick walls. The restaurant offers a magical place to dine under a magnificent glass roof, and has seasonal cuisine based on fresh produce. Near this very special place is the piano bar, which invites you to try a selection of champagnes, whiskies and cocktails. All bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and beautifully furnished.

Beautiful atrium although slightly on the chilly side as it has a very high ceiling. We were too late for a table for dinner so we had a 'bar snack' in the large seating area. This was easily meal sized and more than enough and it was nicely informal. Service was excellent.
Bedrooms were a good size - bathrooms excellent. We discovered that the walls between rooms were extremely thin when our neighbours came to bed while we were asleep and we could easily hear their conversation.
The breakfast which was included in our deal was terrific. A fantastic spread from fresh fruits, yogurts, eggs, bread, croissants and other pastries, cheese ham etc. We wish we had had more time to spend eating it all!
All in all a great treat for us. We would go back.

“ Not a bad-looking hotel. Room was adequate with adequate amenities but very very dark. Even with all the lights on hard to see anything. Rooms cleaned but hit and miss. No toilet rolls left, mini-bar locked and only 1 sachet of coffee left. Very clean though. Reception staff very helpful and amenable. Breakfast served in a vast atrium which was quite cold but totally adequate and ample choice and you could eat and drink as much as you wanted of good quality produce. Staff unobtrusive but helpful and efficient. Reasonable location but a bit of a hike to main square - about a 15 minute walk. Not really suitable for elderly or people with young children. Have spent a few previous breaks in Lille which I thoroughly enjoyed, hence the return, but would never ever go there again. How that place has changed. I was so so disappointed but I suppose it is a sign of the times. Mind you - that's not the hotel's fault. A very good deal and would recommend.

“ Excellent hotel but beware they try to get you to upgrade as soonas you check in. Our room was on the third floor and no need for an upgrade as the room was big and had all the required facilities. Being top floor meant that you were well above the hollow atrium that houses the bar area and restaurant and absolutely no noise from anywhere. 315 looks inside the hotel so no traffic noise!

“ Beautiful hotel, and quite local to the centre, but could do with a few amenities.
“ Top Tip: A few good restaurants and a lot of choice of shops.
