  • Small but well equipped rooms with tea & coffee making facilities & mini bar. Breakfast was very good & the very friendly & helpful staff speak English. The rooms at the front of the hotel are affected by street noise so it might be best to stipulate a room at the back if you are anything other than a heavy sleeper.

Good

Check-in date:

On our 7th or 8th visit there and surprised that we were given a smoking room - NOT our preference - however a very pleasant young man on reception quickly organised a swap to the no-smoking FLOOR. This room was at the front which we would usually avoid but the sound proofing has been improved so it was fine. Large room with good bathroom and towels changed daily. Not keen on the change of furniture in the breakfast room which made it dark and heavy instead of light and airy and disappointed that breakfast items were not replenished quickly in spite of more staff than usual.
As ever we made full use of the travel card which is a real bonus - as are the pleasant reception staff.

Top Tip: Use the travel card on trams trains and buses to really get to know the wider area - Dusseldorf is a lovely city and the countryside around it is beautiful. Must sees are Schloss Benrath, Wuppertal monorail, Kaiserworth ( can go or return by boat but this is not free ) and spit roast pork at Schweine Janes on Bolkerstrasse, Old Town.

The free travel pass each visitor is given at check in is very useful given the very comprehensive public transport network in Dusseldorf. We even used it to get to the airport on departure day.

Top Tip: The Altstadt is a great area to visit for restaurants & bars but if you want to stay local & sample some genuine German fare, try the Schumacker brewery pub on 123 Oststr just five minutes from the hotel on the way to the subway.
