  • Excellent hotel for the price, we had heard bad things about the area being run down, but it's not that bad, although we weren't out at night. It is one metro stop along from the supposed worst place, Omonia Square, and it is right next to the metro station Metaxoughio.

  • I found it quite close to everything, things look a little dodgy in the area at night but I didn't see any trouble and I think that is just the feel of Athens.

Excellent hotel for the price, we had heard bad things about the area being run down, but it's not that bad, although we weren't out at night. It is one metro stop along from the supposed worst place, Omonia Square, and it is right next to the metro station Metaxoughio. Breakfast is decent all you can eat with basic foods, much better than we had been used to, but may not be as nice as others may be used to! Receptionist was quite nice and there was one computer for free internet. Don't think I'll ever go back to Athens but would stay at the hotel again.

Top Tip: If you arrive at the Athens bus station get the bus to Omonia Square (033 I think) and the bus stops right outside the hotel across the road on the left, keep your eyes peeled and you will see it, will save you a taxi. In any case it's only about 10 minutes walk from Omonia Square. Contrary to what you read, if you are sensible Athens is pretty safe and I'm sure you will be fine if you don't do anything stupid.

Unsatisfactory

On the face of it the hotel seems a good proposition as reasonably close to the acropolis and old town however its in a really bad area and doesnt feel safe to walk around at night and sometimes during the day. As for the hotel, it is very noisey, guests constantly slam doors and shouting. The maids start cleaning rooms at 7 so dont expect a lie in. The hotel fronts a main 6 lane busy road so if you get a road facing room dont expect much sleep either. On the plus side the breakfasts were adequate, the roof top bar has a view of the acropolis which should be used more as a unique selling point. There is no car park as advertised in the details.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for and for £20 a night it wasnt too bad, wouldnt go back though!

Top Tip: Use the metro to get to the acropolis, its only four stops and much safer.
