The hotel, housed in a gloriously restored neo-classical mansion, is an oasis of calm in the heart of Corfu's vibrant capital. Originally the 19th-century residence of one of the island's ""first families"", in the 20th century the edifice served as a consulate, the National Bank of Greece, and a lyceum for Corfiot schoolgirls. In 1988, the apricot-hued stately home became a hotel known for its serenity and, in 2006, it was lovingly renovated to serve the needs of third-millennium guests from the world over. The hotel comprises 32 rooms, with two beautiful rooms designed with honeymooners in mind and a second floor grand master suite, ideal for families, round off the range of accommodation units on offer. Facilities include a air conditioning, a lobby, a bar and a TV room.Located in a quiet side street, the hotel is a stone's throw away from Corfu town's historic ""Spianada"" and guests have easy access, by foot, to all the important sites and attractions of Kerkyra: the Liston, the two great fortresses, the museums, and Corfu town's fine restaurants, shops and cafes.Renovated in elegant style by interior designer Marilou Dolianite, the rooms all include an en suite bathroom, direct dial telephone, Internet access, flat screen TV, safe, individual air conditioning and a state-of-the-art orthopaedic bed featuring a double mattress and exquisite linens and duvets.

Extremely friendly and helpful reception. Our room was of a good size, with comfortable bed/bedlinen - everything very clean and well maintained.
A self service breakfast was set out in a large 'summer house' outside, with far more choice than we could begin to explore - and we ate out under the vines of the loggia in the garden.
The sun was shining, birds singing, swifts circling above, warm and friendly breakfast staff - what could be more delightful?

Top Tip: We only had one night in Corfu Town - but the hotel is very well situated for sampling, in a short space of time, some aspects of what the town has to offer. We wandered along the esplanade passing the Old and New Forts, explored a section of the maze of narrow streets of Old Town and had enough time to visit the Church of the Antivouniotissa - now a museum housing a collection of wonderful icons dating from around the 15th to 19th Century.

After contacting the hotel manager I upgraded to the Grand Master Suit at a further cost of 40 Euros per day a total of 280 Euros for the week. The suite was
excellent as was the service throughout the hotel. Special mention of Spiros who
ran the hotel efficiently, he was like a deputy manager and met all our needs.
I would recommend the hotel but not for younger children.
We were celebrating our 56 yr Wedding Anniversary so the complimentary wine
1 large & 2 small bottles went down well. The hotel manager was quick to respond
to my e>mails & offered every assistance.
A nice holiday from start to finish.

Top Tip: Would advise people to take all the Euros required as the exchance rate at banks was the lowest ever 0.7909 Euros to the pound. Eating out was very expensive and
in general the meals were of poor quility.

The hotel was spotless, with friendly staff, an excellent central location and very quiet. Toiletries were provided and renewed everyday when cleaned. There is a small fridge in the room and the heating worked well - needed at night in November! Lightwieght slippers were provided for both of us which was a nice touch. The towels (lovely and soft and fluffy) were changed everyday and the bedding changed every 2 days. it is only about 5 minutes walk to the centre of the old town and only a little more to the new town, and less than that to the waterfront. The continental breakfast was good with a selection of breads, toast, jams, pastries, cake, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, fruit juices, coffee and a selection of teas, served from 7.30 - 10am. There are numerous tavernas and cafes in the neighbourhood and a small supermarket opposite the hotel. I had e-mailed the hotel directly in advance for a specific room and the manager was kind enough to give us what we requested which was lovely. The hotel was quiet so i am not sure that this would be possible at busier tiomes of the year. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a better than normal greek hotel in a lovely town

Top Tip: Great cafe in the new town called the Big Apple which does fantastic chicken souvlaki - 4 skewers with chips and salad for 7.50 euro's. Wonderful freshly squeezed orange juice - large glass for 2.80 euros. In the same row of shops is a fantastic cake shop - try the lemon meringue pies which are the best i have ever tasted!
