“ Lovely location and nice clean room. tho basic. Food very poor. Repetitive, tasteless. Dining room like school dinners.Head waiter a very pleasant Greek, other waiters extremely surly. Was not pleased by their habit of clearing each table the second a guest left it, then spraying it with cleaner and wiping it down next to where people were eating. Twice had to stop them clearing my plate before I'd finished! No fresh fruit at breakfast and fruit juices watered down.
Bar service OK. Would have liked some real Greek food, like olives! Meat nearly always chicken. It would help if they labelled the dishes so you knew what you were eating.

I'd like to compliment you on your excellent organisation, however. My transport was prompt and the drivers courteous and friendly. I'd use you again but not this hotel. The staff need intensive training. I think many of them are Polish.

“ Top Tip: Voulisma beach a 15 min walk but lovely. Above it a good restaurant where i ate as often as I could afford.

“ Couldn't wait to get home! A dismal, neglected and VERY dirty hotel! Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. On arrival the room was infused with cigarette smoke and dirty. We had to buy bleach and clean the floor, tops, cupboards, toilet etc. We had an eternally running tap, a broken shower head and a broken bathroom door. The sheets, which were too small for the bed, were changed only once in two weeks!!! The gardens were overgrown and strewn with disgarded shoes, shorts and towels. Bins overflowed and we had a mountain of cig. butts right outside our window. I have photos! I could go on and on.....The beach was FAR away. The hill up to the hotel is a killer. There was NO ENTERTAINMENT at all. Not even a little Greek music in the background. Staff were not Greek and hardly communicated at all. A total disaster of a hotel. The pool was clean. The food, although limited, was traditional and okay. However the eating area was hoaching with flies and the serving system is totally disorganised. The whole place smelled like a urinal! A dreadful, dirty, dismal hotel, which, in it;s heyday, I'm sure was wonderful. We read the "impressions" book and saw some pictures from years ago. Word has it that it is being rented, by it's elderly owners, to a hotel chain! Say no more.

“ Top Tip: Bus service to Agios Nikolaos (for shopping) was frequent and cheap. Great buses - air conditioned. There are NO shops in Kalo Horio.Take a boat trip to Spinalonga. 10 Euro's for a 5 hour cruise!
The closest beach was very nice but quite a walk away.
Top tip - DON'T GO to the ELPIDA HOTEL in Kalo Horio, Crete!

“ the steep road to the hotel was a killer in the heat. The hotel patrons were 90% Polish and this showed in the menu. We like to eat Greek food and were disappointed to say the least in the weekly fare on offer. This consisted mainly of pork and chicken on alternate nights with lamb only served twice in the fortnight that we stayed in the hotel. The Polish guests seemed to think that it is perfectly OK to use the restaurant wearing only their swimming trunks and still dripping water from the pool on to the eating area ( most unhygienic ), although we did raise our objections to the staff, this went unheeded. Considering we were AI guests we dined in the local resaurants on 8 occasions in 14 days !. The room consisted of two beds,tv,shower and kitchen sink. We thought that this was not what we paid for and were extremely disappointed in the quality. The wines and beers on offer to AI guests were of poor quality and we resorted to buying our drinks outside the hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and could not be faulted in any way. The pool area was extremely busy and the janitor had great difficulty trying to keep the place clean and tidy.

“ Top Tip: The local pub " Connections Bar " was a real treat for the patrons. everything from bingo with smashing prize money, satellite tv, live UK football, karaoke and good quizzes. The Panorama and Kasavounas restaurants had great greek food and the prices were very reasonable.
