Lyda Hotel is located at the outskirts of the village of Gouves, just 18 km from the center of the city of Heraklion and 15 km from the airport. Kato Gouves is about 2 km away and there are two beaches within walking distance of 10 minutes on foot. The property offers a mini bus service (especially during the summer months) to the beaches and there is a mini tourist train to the closest resort centres, which guests can use to visit the fantastic Aquarium of Crete in the nearby town of Gournes. There are several restaurants, mini markets, bars, taverns, souvenir shops close to the studios, as well as a quarter of an hourand's walk can reach the main boulevard of the village of Gouves. The complex facilities and services include reception, lounge, TV room, mini market, restaurant dining area with terrace, night bar, outdoor pool, children´s pool, swim up bar, sun terrace with a snack pool bar, arcade games and billiards (with extra charge). The complex also features a sauna and Jacuzzi (both with extra charge). In addition, it offers occasional entertainment program with barbecues, karaoke and theme nights. The studios and apartments are equipped with A/C, safe (both with extra charge), bathroom with shower, kitchenette with two electric cooking rings and mini fridge and balcony or terrace. Laundry service is available (with extra charge). “ We found our stay here very good. The room was clean, with bedding changed daily. The Staff were always polite, friendly and hardworking. The food was very nice with plenty of choice. The hotel has three lovely pools, which were always clean. The air-conditioned buses are regular about two minutes walk from the hotel, If you want to explore some of the lovely surrounding areas. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

“ An above average hotel for the price you pay. Rooms were adequate with en-suite and bedding and towels changed every three days. Food was good with salard and pasta available each time with a varient on different mains everyday, even if you have a fussy eater they will have something to eat. Staff were friendly and accommandating but they were under staffed. Entertainment was average with kids club, activties in the day like water aerobics and darts, night time includes karokee and quizzes. The nearest beach was a 20 minute walk away, whereas the main town was a good 30 minute walk, but the bus service was regular. We went for a relaxing week for chilling and sun and that's exactly what we got.
“ Top Tip: While there we went to Water City water park about 7km away, on a coach excursion, this was enjoyed by all of us and we would recommend going there.

The Hotel was dirty our room
Was filthy when we arrived with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and wall lights, there were balls of fluff and dust all in the corners of the room. The curtains smelt of urine and we had to request them to be taken down and washed. The description of this hotel reads fantastically with 3 bars one of which is a swim up bar. The swim up bar has not cleArly been in use for a long time

“ The Hotel was clean and friendly. Three excellent well maintained swimming pools. The food was good with a reasonable choice of menu each day. Maid service every day with clean sheets and towels every third. There was no entertainment in the hotel, and I feel young families should consider this before booking. The hotel was some 45 mins walk from the centre of Kato Gouves on a busy road, however there was a beach at the end of the road some 15 mins walk away. At the end of the road there was a full public bus service that took you into neighbouring towns and attractions and if you did not want to use the excellent air conditioned coaches, there was a taxi depot only two minutes walk away. My only grumble was that when collected by the bus transfer service from the airport they insisted on dropping us off at the Lyda Beach apartments, even though we insisted that this was not our hotel. We then had to pay a further Taxi fare to be dropped off at the Lyda Hotel. A very successful holiday, only disappointment was a noisy party of youngster disturbing guests most evenings.

“ Good value, clean, friendly staff, nice pools, good choice in restaurant especially if you like greek food. Water polo, darts, aqua gym on daily but no evening entertainment. 10 min walk to beach. Bus outside to Heraklion, Hersonnissos.
“ Top Tip: Try Mylos Taverna and visit old Gouves.
