Combining the freedom of a villa with the convenience of a hotel, the Silvia Apartments offer up the best of both worlds. The complex is made up of 50 self-catering apartments, which sit in a great location in the heart of Koutouloufari. They’re within a 15-minute walk of the beach, and even closer to the shops, restaurants and bars.
When you’re not out and about, this place has plenty to keep you occupied. For starters, there’s a huge swimming pool. It’s surrounded by trees and gardens, giving it a peaceful and secluded feel. There’s a children’s splash pool and playground, too, as well as a large open-air snack bar. And once a week the hotel puts on a Greek night, complete with food, dancing and live music.
The apartments themselves are separated by palm and olive trees, ensuring you get villa-like privacy. From the outside, they’re a vision of traditional Greece – think pale yellow walls and stone features. Inside, things are kept simple with neutral colour schemes and wooden furniture. They come with satellite TVs, air-conditioning and maid service, too. Last but not least, each one has a kitchenette which is kitted out with all the necessary utensils, making self-catering a breeze.

Stayed at Silvia Apartments July 20 - 27, These apartments are excellent value for money, I stayed in apartment number 100, which was very large, you have separate bedroom, which is very large and a separate bathroom which is good quality, then you have a large studio room which has your kitchen area with fridge, no oven which is standard in Crete, a table with four chairs and a TV, which has a music channel which my children loved and two more single beds, by far the best place I have stayed in in Crete.
The views are fantastic, if you walk up the hill and turn right you come to the small beautiful village of Koutouloufari, which has lots of fantastic restaurants and shops, if you go down the hill to Hersonisos, and have children take them to Star Beach free to get in, but you will have to pay for sun beds, and there is a gorgeous beach there, with little coves, star beach after six at night is for the party people.
They have some great kids pools there, and will keep the little ones entertained for hours.
I would recommend these apartment for none lazy people whom do not mind walking up and down a Hill,
There are lots of places to hire cars and bikes in the area, a good supermarket that is cheap is the spar down the other end of Hersonisos, and there is a Lidi, the Bus is 1.40 Euros down to the end of Hersonisos, the walk is long in the hot sun, so its worth taking the bus.

“ The Sylvia appartments are of a typical Greek standard. They are an equal distance from the night life, of Hersonersis,and the slower paced koutilafari.(10-15 mins walk)They are situated half way up the hill between the two.(NOT SUITABLE FOR THE LESS ABLE).The pool and bar are very good internet access is available in th bar.The appartments are very quiet.
“ Top Tip: Patrico is a very good resturant in Koutilafari,but most of the resturants are of good quality,and the people soon make you feel like old friends. To exchange money you will need to go into Hersonersis.Car hire would also be better found there.When in the town there are lots of shops and resturants to browse
