Location:
Apollonia Beach Deluxe is located on Amoudara Beach-the longest beach in the region. Bars, markets and tavernas are close by. The capital city of Heraklion is only 4km away. The hotel is also close to Gazi village, the archaeological site of Tylissos and 7km away from Knossos archaeological site.
Accommodation:
In Apollonia Beach Deluxe Resort you can choose to stay in a hotel room(26m2), a family room(35m2) or a bungalow(26m2). The hotel also provides 2 presidential suites and 10 rooms specially designed for handicapped people. All rooms/bungalows are equipped with self controlled 24h air-conditioning, fridge, VINGCARD electronic lock, telephone, ELSAFE safe box, Sat-TV, hair dryer, wi-fi and ADSL. And of course balcony or terrace. Phew!
Food & Drink:
There are 4 restaurants in total, a Greek tavern, a la carte Italian and ethnic restaurants.
Breakfast is a full American breakfast buffet with show cooking. And if you have to leave early in the morning or enjoy your sleep a bit more there is the option of early and late breakfast respectively.
Lunch and dinner are served in the main restaurant while lunch buffet is daily available at the pool snack bar.
As for drinks they are available in all bars and restaurants served at the beach bar, cafeteria, cocktail bar, disco indoors and outdoors.

Where to begin? The hotel offers everything you need and donât even have to go out of the complex! Shopping arcade, supermarket, hair-dresser, boutique, jewellery shop, laundry and dry cleaning service, exchange office, beach and towel service and SPA for a unique spa experience.
In addition to the above the hotel is the ideal place for you to exercise! Outdoor and indoor swimming pools, water slides, 2 tennis courts, pedaloes, canoes, watersports(wind surfing, scuba diving, waterskiing), card room, billiards, archering, table tennis, beach football and beach volley.

Our room was not ready for us when we arrived, however, they put us in a superior room for two nights. We would have preferred to have been put in our permanent room right from the beginning allowing us to unpack our suitcases properly. We liked the speciality restaurants, but the main restaurant was also good. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar was better than we expected as there was waiter service, perhaps this was because it wasn't so busy in October. All in all we were pleased with the hotel.
The only downside was lack of entertainment in the evenings. The only entertainment was provided by the hotels pool area staff, maybe in high season it was different.
We were the only English speaking couple in the whole hotel.
The hotel and grounds were kept very clean.

Top Tip:
There were absolutely nothing close to the hotel, it was about a 20 minute walk to the nearest tavernas. There was a mini market a few minutes from the hotel.
There was a nice taverna just along the beach, but you had to cross the river to get to it, and sometimes it was too deep to wade across.

“ The hotel is rather isolated, but its facilities are good. The food is rather disappointing, it is obviously geared to the German and Eastern European guests. The food is generally just warm, the only really hot food is the omelette/pancake/egg option where the item is cooked "while-you-wait". The trays are food are replenished from hot cupboards below the self-service counters. The deserts are good, and there is wine, beer and drinks at every meal. The Disabled facility room does not have any grab rails, although a raised toilet seat appeared on our third day without our asking!!!! The beach and pool areas were clean and well cared-for. The towels in the room were changed daily, by cheerful, friendly staff although British visitors were much in the minority. All in all an enjoyable holiday, but food not up to five start rating. The Asian restaurant is a must for one evening.

Top Tip:
Ensure you use your free trips to the speciality restaurants. It is lovely to be waited on & have a taste of different continents.
Use cheap local transport to move around the island.

“ The hotel was wonderful. Rooms, staff, facilities were excellent. Assuming everything was fantastic the only critisism we could make was that the all inclusive drinks were a little cheap tasting and probably watered down as the most we ever achieved after an afternoon of drinking was tipsy.
“ Top Tip: The bus runs direct from te door into the center of Heraklion. Tickets available from teh hotel and its an excellent day out.

The Uncle George Apartments are located in the tourist area of Amoudara in Crete, just 150 metres from the longest beach in the Heraklion area. There is a good selection of bars, shops, restaurants and cafes as well as local markets all within easy reach of the Uncle George Apartments. Amoudara is located on the north coast of the island on the outskirts of Heraklion, it boasts a blue flag awarded beach and excellent resort amenities.
“ Can be difficult to find, especially if you've relied on Google Maps. Actually called Uncle George's Tavern and Restaurant, with the apartments above that. Despite that, it was a very cheap deal for us, and we got much more than we expected for the price. Very nice, adequate motel room, with the restaurant below and the beach not even 5 minutes walk away.
