The staff were very welcoming and as we arrived late (after 11pm) some food had been saved for us which was unexpected but well received!

The hotel is right on the beach, just walk through the gate at the end of the terrace, and was very clean and laid out with sunbeds and umbrellas. The views were stunning over the bay.

The animation team were friendly but most of the entertainment was for the kids. There was a 'mini disco' each night and music for the adults after 9.30pm

The all inclusive deal was great and the quality of food fantastic!!! Excellant value for money!

The hotel is located outside of town so if you want to see the sights you need to travel to town and get transport out... but if your looking for a beach break to do nothing this hotel is the perfect destination ;@)

Throughly enjoyed our stay at the Neptuno Beach, hotel was clean and food and drink plentiful. There's not a lot in the way of entertainment or shops in Ammoudara but we were just happy chilling out. Reception area could do with being a little bigger with more seating as this was the main area that people converged during the evenings. It may be different in high season when the outside pool areas are used I guess, but otherwise all in all we really liked this hotel.

Top Tip: Bus into Heraklion is cheap and easy, the main stop you need to get off at is the Astoria stop in Heraklion (big main square area) where the Hotel Astoria is.

We really enjoyed our few days at the Neptuno at the beginning of our Crete adventure - so much so that we even returned again for a few days at the end! We thought it was great value for money.

To summarize the many positive points :

1) The food was great with wide variety to suit most tastes.
2) The rooms were fairly small but pleasant and nicely cleaned daily.
3) The pool was lovely and very underused.
4) The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

I have to try quite hard to find a few negatives - however they are :

1) There are many better spots for a holiday in Crete than Ammoudara - it is actually just a scruffy suburb of Heraklion with not much going on. For us, the main attraction was that it is situated fairly near the airport making for easy transfers.
2) Wifi internet access is expensive in the hotel - 5 Euros per hour! In most other places we stayed at in Crete, the wifi was free.
3) The TV in the room does not provide the usual international channels like CNN or BBC World
4) The evening entertainment is pretty lame - almost comical!

we stayed at the Neptuno for 10 days and had a wonderful time, the staff are delightful, nothing was too much trouble, any requests were dealt with promptly and efficiently. The room was spotlessly clean, towels and bedding changed regularly. The food was extremely good, with options to suit everyone, one thing did stand out and that was, for little ones in particular, very good quality ice creams available all the time( in our experience, on all inclusive options, this is usually only at limited times) drinks, even though were local, were mainly very good, the wine in particular of excellent quality. The other great feature was that the sunbeds on the beach were also free of charge, not something we have come across on Greek islands before - normally even if on A.I one has to pay when on the beach. Also when on the beach there is a Thai masseur, one does have to pay for this , but a 40 minute massage @ 20euros, I thought represented great value and was just fab!! ( just need to time it right for you though, as you're covered in oil!!) All in all a great holiday, at a great price.

Top Tip: Buses stop at the main road ( a minute's walk away) to get into Heraklion centre, get tickets in the little supermarket opposite the hotel- you need 2 each person for a return journey. we hired a car, paying extra for sat-nav(well worth it, as maps not too detailed) this worked out much cheaper, and more convenient than buses if you want to explore further afield
