Uncle George Apartments

“ This is a family run hotel, and they put themselves out to be friendly and obliging. It is basic, therefore ideal for those on a budget - it is also spotless. We stayed half board due to a tight budget; we enjoyed toast and jams for breakfast, and each evening our meal started with salad and bread, and ended with a chocolate blancmangish desert; the main meal was different each evening, our favourites being the moussaka and the stuffed tomatoes. We would go back to the same Taverna again but would not go half-board as meal prices were very reasonable here and around, and would have enjoyed different starters and puddings.

“ the rooms we were offered weren't fit for purpose we had to fight to get decent rooms. Hot water was sporadic to say the least. Owners were friendly and food wasn't bad.
The resort was very shabby and beach was dirty. We were forced to hired a vehicle due to lack of local facilities.

“ Can be difficult to find, especially if you've relied on Google Maps. Actually called Uncle George's Tavern and Restaurant, with the apartments above that.
Despite that, it was a very cheap deal for us, and we got much more than we expected for the price. Very nice, adequate motel room, with the restaurant below and the beach not even 5 minutes walk away.

“ Excellent value for price paid.
I had a large twin to use as a double with a good balcony. The self catering area was fine - and I didn't need to use it much as the food served in the restaurant wa cheap and very good.
The two hosts Artimis and Kostas were vey helpfull and friendly and went out of their way to make my stay happy.
I would definitely return for another holiday

Hiraklion is a very interesting and atractive town with excellent museums
