This hotel in a qhite touristy area, had friendly staff, was clean, had a good pool, inc. childrens section. It was on the bus root and a few minutes walk from a quite touristy beach. Its one letdown was noise - the road one side, a poolside bar overlooked by many of the studios/rooms, and a belief that guests needed often loud, unpleasant, thumping music all day and into the night.

Efficiently run by friendly, local family. Rooms spacious and spotlessly clean as are all communal areas. It does look like the photos! Good sized pool and sun bathing area which is useful when it's too breezy on the beach. Pool bar open all day and serves freshly squeezed orange juice and salads as well as the usual fast food and drinks. Rooms have fridge and 2 ring hob with basic cutlery/crockery. Rooms cleaned daily. Linen changed weekly. Great location on the outskirts of Chania. Buses run regularly into the centre of Chania until late in the evening. Good choice of local family restaurants. Supermarkets and ATMs close by. Mainly a Scandanavian tourist area. The only downside to the Nontas is that it is on the old national road from Chania to Kissamous so the front appartments suffer from traffic noise. The rooms overlooking the pool at the back are fine though. In fairness, many of the hotels on the north west coast are close to this road and will suffer the same problem. So, if you are sensitive to noise, choose your accomodation carefully or be prepared to close the windows etc and put the air conditioning on. Nontas charge extra for this. We've stayed here twice now. It's a good base for exploring the west of Crete.

Top Tip: The beach at Agii Apostoli was a favourite and in easy walking distance of the Nontas. Saki & Dimitris is a good place to eat as is The Gourmet. Don't miss the Saturday farmers' market in Chania. If you're struggling with the luggage weight limit set by your airline, chuck out your beach towels - they're very cheap to buy out there along with all sorts of other beach gear. Suntan lotion is also easy to buy unless its late in the season and you want a high SPF.

Very well run, spotlessly clean everywhere, charming staff, very handy for the beach and local restaurants and bars.
Bit noisy at night with road noise for those apartments at the front.

Top Tip: Music bar does great cocktails
Antigone restaurant at the very end of the harbour front in Chania was brilliant - fresh fish done to your liking.
