Elounda Aqua Sol Resort Hotel

“ A wonderful stay. I personally stayed at this hotel over 22 years ago on my honeymoon. It was known as the Elounda Marmin Hotel back then. I went back on 29th August of this year and it seemed like very little had changed. There is the addition of the second swimming pool, an extension on the dining room and an occasional change here and there, but everything else brought back good memories. Rooms had been updated.

There is always plenty of variety in the restaurant on offer.

Bear in mind this Hotel is slightly on the hillside, so there are many steps over the complex. I will admit they were easier back then. There is a little walk to the beach, and an even longer one into town (about 20 mins).

“ The guests in this hotel were 90% french. There were only six other English people staying there when I was there. All the entertainment was in french. The beach belonging to the hotel was tiny and mainly rocky not worth bothering with. The nearest taverna was a good half hour walk away down a not very inspiring road. A taxi was 6 euros one way to the centre of Elounda. The hotel did not have a courtesy bus which would have been useful. The food was very poor quality. The only positive aspect of the hotel was the fact that there plenty of sunbeds even in the afternoon. This was not a 4 star hotel.

“ Top Tip: Good walks across the causeway and boat trip to Spinalonga very interesting

“ entertainment staff were excellent and so friendly, although french is the main language spoken.

“ Top Tip: visit Poppies on the water front in Elounda for a relaxing drink without the high prices.
