Elounda Palm Hotel

“ Well deserved 4 star hotel. Even though we were there right at the end of the season, the rooms were immaculate and the staff were attentive and friendly. The rooms we had were in the main part of the hotel, with beautiful views over the elounda bay. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet location within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants

“ Top Tip: The Olondo restaurant right on the sea front - food was excellent, staff were attentive and friendly and the prices very reasonable.

“ The hotel was one of the best that I have stayed in with friendly staff and magnificent views of the bay and the mountains. It was certainly geared more to older people or to people looking for a relaxing holiday as it was very quiet. Although the food was not outstanding, there was a reasonable choice at mealtimes and this always included some local dishes. The nearby small town of Elounda was very attractive and had numerous restaurants; in the opposite direction, the larger Agios Nicolaos had a good selection of shops. One drawback was the short but very steep driveway down to the hotel which our airport shuttle bus would not tackle.

“ Top Tip: We found it rewarding to hire a car for a couple of days and visit the Minoan palace at Knossos and the plain of Lasithi. The latter afforded a magnificent drive in the mountains and a trip back to life-styles that seem to have changed little over the centuries.

“ We had a great time at the Elounda Palm is it a very relaxing place to stay, which is what we wanted and the staff are friendly and very helpful.

We stayed in a shared pool suit which was great, fantastic views your own space to relax in all day. The main pool is also a nice place, a small bar which serves great cocktails and no noisy music playing a calm place.

We stayed on a half board basis, Breakfast and Dinner, breakfast was great a lot of choice for all tastes. Dinner was very good, there again was a lot of choice and changed each evening, we stayed for 2 weeks and there was not much repeated. Be warned though take larger clothes and do a lot of walking to compensate for the nice food. The wines are very good local wine is great we tried them all and you must eat there sweets if you have space wow.

Prices at the hotel we thought were very good, wine and water wine dinner (local wine) no more than €12 large bottles for both, cocktails all €7 and there are a lot of them. Local beer is serves very nice soft drink, Icecreams etc.

The hotel was also kept immaculate every day the pools the gardens everywhere was cleaned and ongoing during the day, there was a sense of pride.

The location was great, it was just out of the way but not to far you could not get to places. We did not bother with a car and used the buses or walked, we walked to Elounda often for a drink or something to eat. Got the bus to Plaka and Ag Nick very easy to use and cheap, plus outside the hotel. There is a lot to do and see or just rest, the general area noise is good, you here the odd car or bike, but nothing that would bother you, it is normal daily life.

We would without doubt stay there again, our words were we found a GEM.

“ Top Tip: Visit Plaka they have a great little beach there, stones not sand, but it is a lovely vilage small and serene. Nice little authentic Tavernas there and agreat bar by the beach, a little drink waiting for the bus.

Lotus Eaters we had a great meal there one evening, great food and service cannot fault it.

Kanali the other side of the causeway, a lovely place to sit eat and drink, very Romantic at night. You overlook the Mirabello Bay great views great food, lit up at night and watch the fishing boats going past you are right on the waters edge.

Use the buses also they are cheap and easy to use.

20 - 30 minute walk to restaurants and harbour but worth making the effort to experience the great selection on offer.

Great bus service to Elounda and Agios Nikolaos from just outside hotel.

No families staying while we were there (Early October) but probably geared more for couples who are looking for a quiet and relaxing break.
