This is an excellent hotel, very clean, the food is first class - homemade desserts, with lots of choice because it's buffet style. There is also an excellent pool bar with fantastic friendly staff - hence we have just had our fourth visit to this hotel.
There are two beaches approximately 5 minutes walk away. However, we found that this year a few bars and shops have closed in the town. Another disappointment was that all the tables and swinging hammocks, which looked out to the sea, have gone because the townhall put the rents up. Apart from that, we had a lovely stay and I would still go back, because I love this hotel, the Cretan sunshine and turquoise blue sea.
“ Top Tip: Sample real greek music and dancing at the Asteria Bar & Restaurant, about a 10 - 15 minute walk away from the hotel (next to Lavris Hotel). Not only does the host 'Mike' serve very reasonably priced drinks, he entertains you by dancing and playing the mandola and bazzukah, along with a fantasic guitar player and a hand held drummer - a really enjoyable experience. Also the 'Baraki' in the town serves excellent cocktails but they are pricey. A good meal can be had at Zorbas. All the people are so friendly, it makes you want to return.

“ We arrived at this hotel late off a ferry. The gentleman on reception couldn't have been more helpful and despite the restaurant being just about to close for the evening, he made sure we had something to eat, we certainly didn't expect to at 9.15pm. Our accommodation was at the Gouves Sea but meals were taken at the sister hotel, the Gouves Mare. The room we had was clean and tidy and can only be described as functional: we wouldn't have wanted it for more than a few days. The meals at the Gouves Mare were extremely good - excellent buffet breakfasts and buffet dinner with good selection of food - and it is for this and for the extremely high standard of service we received that we would give a grading of above average

“ Booked onto Gouves Sea Hotel (3 star) half board and on arrival were upgraded to the 4 star Gouves Mare Hotel (Sister hotel). Excellent place to stay and eat. Both hotels are family run with helpful friendly staff, we will return.
“ Top Tip: Good beach just across quiet road, excellent snack bar in hotel grounds also family run. Great traditional Greek bar called Asteria, wonderful welcome and probably the best value in Gouves.

Although i was booked into Gouves Sea i was given a room in Gouves Mare (4 Star) sister hotel. The hotels share the site with the Sea being the older/smaller part. All hotel facilities were available to all guests. This is a well run ,friendly, very clean hotel, which is only 20 metres from the beach. Air Con is included in all rooms at no extra cost (serious bonus as its so hot). Food at the first floor restaurant is reasonable given the buffet style for differing nationalities. The cafe/bar at the front of the complex sells a mixture of local and usual holiday foods and will keep the kids happy. Prices throughout are very reasonable.
All in all i enjoyed my time here and would not hesitate to book again.

Top Tip:
Try some of the local food at the local tavernas, its worth the effort.
The beaches in Gouves are all good and 6EU will get you a couple of sunbeds and a parasol for the day.

“ The hotel was good quality. It is not 5 star however. I would rate it 4 star. It was excellent value. The food quality was very good. The beer and wine available on the all inclusive option were drinkable. The rooms were a good size and the staff were helpful.

The hotel is ideal for families and couples looking for flexible accommodation close to the beach where they can spend a relaxing holiday. The fully air-conditioned hotel comprises a total of 50 apartments and studios and facilities include: lobby, hotel safe, currency exchange and a restaurant.The hotel is only 100 metres from the beach in the tourist area of Amoudara and 3 miles from the centre of Heraklion. The beach is the longest in the Heraklion area and is lined with bars, shops, hotels, restaurants and cafes as well as local markets.The modern apartments and studios all offer individually adjustable air conditioning, en suite bathroom with shower, TV, direct dial telephone, safe, kitchenette, fridge and a balcony.The hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool with a children's paddling section, as well as a poolside snack bar.
“ The friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff cannot be faulted. The room was kept clean etc however, the bathroom was a bit below par.The menu for half board guests could have been more varied but that having been said the food was good.

Apartments have a twin bedroom with a sofa bed in the lounge area. Some have an additiona; rollaway bed. All units have a bathroom with shower and wc, kitchenette with two cooking rings and fridge, air conditioning*, safety deposit box*, TV and balcony. * Local charge payableThe reception area offers money exchange facilities and TV. Outdoors there is a pool with a shallow section for children, sun terrace with sun loungers, a pool bar and snack bar.Set on the outskirts of Gouves in a quiet location 250m to the secluded beach, 200m to a supermarket and shops, 50m to restaurants and cafes and 1km to the centre of Gouves resort.

With views over the Aegean Sea, in a beachfront position, the Kaissa Beach apartments are close to local amenities, and are a fantastic base to visit nearby resorts and to explore the beautiful island of Crete.
“ regularly cleaned, friendly english speaking staff, very nice food at the restaurant, 10 % off if you are staying at kaissa plus childrens play area next to restaurant (very useful) this was our seventh time to crete fourth time to gouves and will be staying at kiassa beach next time. my kids (17) - (6) loved it.

Situated on the north coast of Crete, close to the hotel are shops of all kinds such as Super-Markets, Pharmacy, ATM, Taverns, Restaurants and Bars. Its location is an ideal starting-spot for different excursion to the east and middle parts of Crete. The village of Sissi still preserves an individual, quiet touristic atmosphere. The next Beach (sand with small pebbles) 150 m away, sun beds and umbrellas are available with a small charge. Angela traditional apartments and studios were renovated at 2005 and are located opposite Angela Suites Boutique Hotel. ***All the guests of Studios and Apartments have free use of all facilities of the Deluxe part like pools, mini gym-mini spa-Jacuzzi, pool towels etc***
“ The Studio Room was very clean but quite basic but had everything we needed. The ensuite bathroom again was quite basic and the bath was very small. It was really only meant for you to sit in under the shower head.
